Well, this is my last day with the new owners. Didn't post too much in the past. Not much of a Facebooker. Kind of bittersweet. Made a lot of good friends, drank a lot of wine and had a lot of fun but now it's time to hand over the store to a younger generation who will take it to a new level. We're not just an award winning wine shop. We carry craft beers and also like to search out some special liquors and cordials. We're the first in the area to have Papa's Pilar Dark and Blonde rums. This is the first time that the Hemingway family has allowed their name to be used on a rum. Solera blended, the dark is 24 yr. old and the blonde is 3 yr. old on the label but most of the rums used are at least 5-6 years old. Be the first on your block to try it!

Just opened bottles of Davis Bynum's new release of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir for tasting. For the first time, these are single vineyard offerings from Russian River Valley in Sonoma County. Yummy!

Wow! Lot going on this week. State of the Union address is Tuesday night. Then you better pay attention to the state of your personal union on Thursday! For you believers, Ash Wednesday and the start of Lent is on the 13th. (Please, please don't give up wine!) My mind gets so frazzled that for relief I just have to sit down and sip on some high-end Napa Cabernet, Merlot, Zinfandel, Sauvignon Blanc, Rose and a Bordeaux Red. Wow! Billy Collins, Poet Laureate of the US from 2001 to 2003, was just in the store and we discussed Richard Blanco's Inaugural Poem. Pretty cool for a guy who only knows "Roses are red....!
