2/4/1961 - Former Nationwide Series driver Tom Bolles was born. He started 11 Nationwide races in the 1990s. Bolles, of Connecticut, best finish was 9th twice, in '95 & '97 @ New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Most of Bolles' NASCAR starts were in the K&N Pro East Series & Whelen Modified Tour. Bolles won twice in 146 starts in the East Series and had one win in 191 starts in the Whelen Series. (NASCAR.com)

2/2-3/2002 - #27 Doran Lista Racing claims the overall victory in the Rolex 24 GRAND-AM Road Racing event Daytona International Speedway. The drivers included Didier Theys, Fredy Lienhard, Mauro Baldi, and current NASCAR driver Max Papis. Papis' best career finish in Sprint Cup came Watkins Glen International in 2009 placing 8th.

2/1/1953 - Lee Petty Opened the 1953 Season with a 1-2 finish for Petty Enterprises @ Palm Beach Speedway. His teamate, #41 Jimmie Lewallen in a '52 Plymouth, finished 2nd. Petty's #42 1953 Dodge led 152 of the 200 lap race helping him claim the winner's check of $1000.

1/31/1981 - Scott Lagasse Jr., was born. Lagasse started 14 Nationwide Series races last year and picked up his fifth career top-10, an 8th, this past April at Phoenix International Raceway. That tied his career best in 49 starts set a year earlier at Talladega Superspeedway. He also has made 19 starts in the Truck Series, most recently in 2008. (NASCAR.com)

1/30/1986 - Two-time runner-up in the K&N East Series (06-07) Sean Caisse was born. Caisse started five Nationwide Series races last year including an 18th in June at Nashville Superspeedway. That is his best finish in eight career starts in three seasons. Caisse made one start in the Truck Series in 2008, finishing 36th at Martinsville Speedway. (NASCAR.com)

1/28-29/2006 - NASCAR driver Casey Mears teamed up with Target Ganassi Racing corporate teammates Scott Dixon & Dan Weldon to win the Rolex 24 hour race @ Daytona International Speedway driving the #02 Riley MkXI-Lexus.

1/27/1934 - George Follmer, a road-racing ace, is born on this day. Follmer won four road-racing championships from 1965 to 1976, including the 1972 Can-Am title. In addition to 20 starts in the Cup Series, Follmer also raced in USAC and Formula One. Follmer had three top-fives among his five top-10 finishes in the Cup Series, topped by a fourth-place finish at Atlanta in March 1974.

1/26/1925 - Former Sprint Cup Series car owner and American actor Paul Newman was born to Theresa & Arthur Samuel Newman in Shaker Heights, Ohio. He owned the former #12 car before selling in to Penske Racing. At the age of 70 years and 8 days, he became the oldest driver to be part of a winning team in a major sanctioned race, winning in his class at the 1995 24 Hours of Daytona.

1/25/1941 - "Buddy" Elzie Wylie Baker, Jr. was born in Florence, South Carolina to Buck and Susan Baker. He has 19 wins in the Sprint Cup Series including the fastest Daytona 500 ever.

1/24/2006 - Team Red Bull Racing announced their entry into the now Sprint Cup Series partnered with manufacturer Toyota.

1/23/1966 - Dan Gurnery won the Motor Trend 500 @ Riverside International Raceway. He was driving the #121 Harvest Motors 1966 Ford for the Wood Brothers and took home $18,445 that day.

1/22/1956 - Buck Baker won the 150 lap race @ the Arizona State Fairgrounds. He was driving the #301 1955 Chrysler for Carl Kiekhaefer, and he pocketed $1500.
