The first time, I tried reading this book, I didn’t make it far. This time, I stayed with it for 199 days. About 100 hours. Some days, one page…

A book about two cities, built by two loves, and the slow education of the human heart 🤍

Augustine isn’t just explaining history or theology, he’s re-ordering love, helping us notice what shapes us, and quietly asking what we’re living for.

“Wine is the intellectual part of a meal.” — Alexandre Dumas 🍷
A beautiful reminder that wine isn’t just about flavor — it’s about ideas, and connection shared around the table.

This Mediterranean quinoa salad is a vibrant celebration of summer’s freshest ingredients—quinoa, shrimp, cucumbers, cherry tomatoes, red onion, feta, garbanzo beans, pine nuts, olives, and a touch of peppermint. It’s the kind of dish that feels light yet deeply satisfying—perfect for al fresco dining or a sun-drenched wine dinner with friends.

Why we love it:
✔️ Packed with protein and fiber
✔️ Rich in Mediterranean flavor and texture
✔️ Ready in under 30 minutes

Wine Pairing Tips:
Pair it with a crisp, citrusy Albariño, a mineral-driven Assyrtiko, or a vibrant rosé from Provence. Each brings out something different—from the brininess of the olives to the sweetness of the tomatoes and shrimp.

Because beauty belongs at the table!

The theme of this dinner was simple:
We love to gather, to converse, and to share a beautiful meal with our favorite wines.

We sipped:
🥂 Collet Champagne Rosé
🌊 Open Claim Vineyards White Pinot Noir
🍇 Euclid Napa Valley Red Blend
🍷 Caymus Cabernet Sauvignon

We savored:
🦐 Jumbo shrimp coctel
🌾 Risotto arancini — crisp and golden
🍝 Mezzi rigatoni in a bold, spiced base
🐟 Pistachio-crusted redfish
🍮 Crème brûlée & velvety chocolate ice cream

Evenings like this remind us —
wine doesn’t just pair with food; it pairs with memory.

Words & Wine: The Art of Loving 🍷📖

I’ve always admired Erich Fromm. A deep, thoughtful voice who wasn’t afraid to examine love from every angle. The Art of Loving isn’t just about romance—it’s about love in all its forms.

Fromm believed love is an art. One we practice daily, through:

1-Discipline — not as punishment, but as a gift to ourselves. A rhythm we choose.

2-Concentration — the courage to be fully present, to enjoy solitude, and tune out the noise.

3-Patience — because anything meaningful takes time.

4-A deep, steady attention — the willingness to show up for what matters, again and again.

One of my favorite reminders: anything truly nourishing—whether reading, prayer, music, or a quiet walk—might feel like resistance at first. But stay with it, and it becomes joy.

If you’ve ever wondered how to love better—yourself, others, or the world—this book is a wise and timeless companion.

This month’s spotlight: Open Claim Vineyards — where geology, grace, and intention shape every pour.

From ancient soils to bold vision, their name says it all:

OPEN. As in limitless.
CLAIM. A ringing statement of purpose.
VINEYARDS. A life written in soil and dreams.

Their philosophy echoes our own: that wine is not just something to be possessed — but shared. A story of land, beauty, and belonging, meant to be poured generously, around tables where community is cultivated.

This White Pinot Noir reflects the spirit of the Willamette Valley — layered, luminous, and quietly expressive.

Some gatherings remind us why we do what we do.

An evening of laughter, wine, and beautiful food spent celebrating a dear friend and longtime member of The Art of Wine.

It was a Spanish night to remember — from a vibrant charcuterie board paired with a bold Tempranillo, to scallops and asparagus that paired perfectly with favorite Sauvignon Blanc. Anchovies with a crisp Verdejo, and we ended on a high note with a bottle-cap Cabernet Franc from Uruguay — and a birthday cheesecake that was truly to die for.

Happy Birthday to someone who brings light, charisma, and warmth wherever she goes.

We’re grateful for the years of friendship, the shared tables, and the joy of gathering in good company.
Here’s to many more moments — rich with connection, flavor, and the art of living well.

In Oakville, where sun-drenched days meet cool valley breezes, this noble grape finds a voice that’s both powerful and refined.
Expect notes of ripe plum, black cherry, crushed violet, and a touch of graphite—all grounded by the signature minerality of Oakville’s famed soils. It’s a varietal that rewards the curious and captivates the palate.

Have you had a memorable Cab Franc moment? We’d love to hear about it.

The Wisdom of Pasteur in a Bottle….Wine is more than a drink—it’s a storyteller, a time capsule, a work of art. It carries history, culture, craftsmanship, and even wisdom within it. While books share knowledge through words, wine speaks in taste, aroma, and experience. Each sip reflects the land it comes from, the hands that crafted it, and the traditions that shaped it.

A great bottle teaches patience in its aging, appreciation in its complexity, and presence in the way it invites us to slow down and savor the moment. In this way, wine is philosophy in liquid form—an exploration of time, place, and the beauty of being.
