Busy week here at the Museum! Last Saturday night, I attended a cookout get together in memory of ole pal Terry "Lassie" Lail at Scott Ellis hunting lodge. Scott was kind enough to give the this cardboard where Lassie had practiced his pinstripeing.. Not many people knew he had that talent but this shows he was pretty dang good at it! Scott also gave me the Captain Jack McClure post card from around 1972.. Forest City DJ Pat Nanney stopped in earlier in the week with some interesting pieces, always wanted to read Joe Gibbs book, now I can. Plus another co written by former Shelby resident Barbara McKay...He also delivered some diecast banks from Margie Pflug from Beaufort, SC.. All ones I didn't have. Flowery Branch, Ga resident Jay Bradley stopped in with a Junior Johnson stein for my JJ collection! Thx also for buying my lunch! While he was here, Kerry Bodenhamer and David Messer made the trip from Asheville just in time to go eat Bridges BBQ with us! David brought some amazing stuff, including the Asheville newspaper from the Titanic sinking.. Today Gene Turney delivered a helmet, driving uniform. trophies and a door from Randy Morrison who will be inducted into the Tri County Speedway Hall of Fame tomorrow.. Along with a helmet once worn by Ned Setzer way back in 1970.. Thx to Randy's wife Cheryll for donating all this to the museum! Definitely an amazing week for sure!
