It was a gorgeous afternoon for the Sunflower Festival at Red Apple Farm in Phillipston, MA! The sunflower season may be coming to an end, but there are still lots of fall festivities on the horizon here for the whole family. I know most of us don't think of cemeteries as a place to go enjoy an afternoon, but Mt. Auburn Cemetery on the Watertown, Cambridge line, is both historic and incredibly beautiful. As the resting place for many of the most affluent Massachusetts residents in history no expenses were spared to create a truly gorgeous place to visit. The Mt. Holyoke summit house offers incredible views! This direction has a beautiful view of Rainbow Beach Northampton, UMass Amherst, and Hadley. Grab some charcoal to use in one of the grills, and bring your family and friends to enjoy the views, and some outdoor dining while the good weather lasts! Oh! Though technically this beautiful spot is not in a city or a town we think villages count too! Shelburne Falls, MA is a charming village, half of which is in the town of Shelburne, and half in Buckland, with the stunningly beautiful Bridge of Flowers linking the two towns. Did you know Gardner, Massachusetts once held the world record for the largest chair in the world? Though larger chairs have since been erected, the Bicentennial Chair in Gardner is a one and a half ton trophy commemorating the booming industry that built the city where it stands today. By the mid 19th century Gardner produce roughly 1.2 millions chairs annually helping the city earn the its "Chaircentric" title.
