Through Our Eyes Project

Through Our Eyes Project Life. From a different point of view. Whether it's someone struggling with homelessness, an at-risk c The cameras are disposable. The people are not.

The purpose of the Through Our Eyes Project is three-fold:

To provide hope for those who are hurting by focusing on spirituality. Everyone deserves to be loved, including the photographers who volunteer to participate with the project. To provide joy in creating art by seeking the emotional aspect of creating. We want the photographers to feel the gratification that comes with being part of somet

hing bigger than they are. To provide awareness & support by understanding physical needs. We want communities to engage with different groups of people, learn how to love them and support organizations who serve them.

📍Plan ahead, pick your spot and mark your calendar! We are getting closer to camera distribution in Charlestown, MA!

Photographers will have 24 hours to capture what a day looks like for them. Everyone's day to day experiences are different and seeing those differences helps us learn more about each other's passions, hobbies, families, personalities, and more! In November, we will share these photos and learn more about the people of Charlestown!

🟩 Green Elm
"This is an area I see on a regular basis, as it is right up the street from my home in Charlestown. However, I don't think I ever saw it as green as it was, until this project. The reason I love this photograph? It simply shows how we live in the city, yet still have so much green that surrounds us. The green street sign, up to the top of the tree to the green patina on the copper on the home that has clearly been in our neighborhood for years. I loved all the green I could see in one spot on a city street."

"The sign outside says A-1 convenience store but most of us in town still call it Doyle’s. When I was a kid it was Peg & Al’s. This store has been a staple in Charlestown for as long as I can remember. Yes, owners have changed but nothing compares to the small town feeling of buying a candy bar, or a Keno ticket, or saying ‘Hi’ to Jimbo on your walk home from school or the club. 🌈The theme for the Through Our Eyes Project in Charlestown, MA 2023 was colors!

Humans are attached to colors in various ways! In this photo, we see more red and blue. Red can often associate with things like passion, fear, love or anger, while blue can represent emotions like sadness or help us feel calm. Do you often associate colors with emotions or reactions and make the connection of how they affect your daily life?
