**elovers Ahhhhhh France! YES YES YES! Today my offering to you is Lancement Côte Rôtie . A beautiful dry w**e that offers dark fruit with spices of cinnamon and clove. The complexity of the w**e unravels delicious and fun layers nudging your palate along for the ride. Semaska revived the Château de Monthly in 1988, prior to that it had been silent since World War 1 1914-1918 as the previous owners went to fight in the war and the unkind phylloxera had devastated the vineyard. Since then he has put hard work into the vineyard expanding and updating, in the end crafting stunning w**es. This w**e may prove difficult for you to find elsewhere. You deserve this gem! It’s the weekend. Perfect weather for seared lamb chops and a mint , rosemary demi glacé sauce, maybe with creamy Gruyère polenta or cannellini beans . Just saying😎

Ever the philosophical w**e, with every sip the 2019 Maya reveals new layers of complexity and depth, invoking thoughts of a mysterious and intriguing destination. The firmness of the Maya’s Cabernet is boosted and lifted by the black olive and dried herbal tones of the Cabernet Franc. Boysenberry, crushed gravel, and violet come to the forefront before revealing deeper layers of the black and blue fruits, lingering through an extended finish but at the same time maintains an ethereal status that dances on the palate.

As fans know, Maya comes from a very special section of the estate vineyard, situated in the valley’s eastern foothills, below Pritchard Hill and in the above the Oakville floor, overlooking Screaming Eagle. The blend is two-thirds Cabernet Sauvignon and one-third Cabernet Franc. Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2019 Maya slowly unfurls to reveal a firework display of redcurrant preserves, kirsch, boysenberries and wild blueberries, followed by iron ore, red roses, cardamom, fallen leaves and crushed rocks, with a waft of pencil shavings. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is stunningly graceful and refined, featuring exhilarating mineral sparks among the red and black fruits, finishing with so much brightness and energy. This w**e can be enjoyed with more than just foie gras! It can serve so many possibilities for a spectacular experience. An aperitif to start —-or end, or duck with a peach or citrus gastrique , or even a raspberry clafoutis. The options are endless. The main consideration is balance and harmony when pairing. We have a beautiful Sauternes from one of the most prestigious vineyards that produces some of the best expressions of this w**e. Chateau D’Quem.
