and I am the Son of Bill Patterson Sr. I've been deeply involved in Drag Racing ALL my life, practically since I was born. My dad was a well-known Aerospace Engineer, Engine builder and Crew chief in Drag Boats and then later TAFC and TAD. I currently live in Colorado. I have a complete TAD (Older Parts and Chassis) that belonged to my dad and myself. The dragster currently resides in Trinidad, CO
and at some point we will initially run the car in Top Dragster and will prove out our Transmission in that category. Since my dad's death from Cancer in 2001 the car had been sitting until October of 2012. We went to Austin and picked up the car & trailer. The Chassis has been updated by Kennedy Race Cars, The Motor has been rebuilt and serviced by JD Machine works of Dripping Springs, Tx and I've now gotten to the point where I am very close to being ready to take it back to the track again. As of now, I have a friend Named Dan Hessler who is helping get the trailer fixed and the car ready. I am trying to get more funding to get my car back on the track and have had 1 big sponsor meeting but nothing has come of it yet. I’m in this project of almost 60k of my own money. This isn't an easy thing to do. If I can make this happen it will be a tribute to the most wonderful dad and the smartest man I have ever known. It will also be the most unbelievable thing ever because I always said that he was the brains behind the operation and I was never sure if I could do this on my own. I'm trying and that's all I can do. When I get it all together I am planning to have Brian Cutshaw do the driving for few seasons in Top Dragster with the current 426 Hemi Blown Motor & Roots Type Blower so that he can get passes under his belt, I will learn to tune the motor and he will get his TAD license along with a lot of Test passes on the Transmission. For a TAD license you only need to run 6.20 seconds or faster and 205mph or Faster. Top Dragster seems like a good place to start for someone like me. I started driving our TAD in 1995 in Houston. I first got licensed in a Super Comp car and then began my licensing attempts in our TAD. Due to Transmission R&D, Transmission breakage (Reverser & Converter Main Shaft due to Driver error) over the course of trying to get licensed, my dad diagnosed w/ Cancer and then passing away in March of 2001, The car hasn't seen the track since 1998 or so and as a result I haven't driven a TAD in a long time. I haven't held a competition license since then. The chassis now has Big Front Wheels, Shroud on Roll Cage, & Wing on Back, motor and all of the safety belts, etc. are updated and ready top go. At this point, I am seeking any kind of Monetary sponsorship or Investers that could help me get not only the car on the track, but finish the transmission design and begin a proto 2.
2. The Transmission:
I have a Prototype BPR-Hydro-Tech Converter & Transmission that my dad Designed, Engineered and built. The testing was almost complete and we were ready to move on to the next G-2 version of the Transmission. It's also Patent pending and Pending NHRA Tech Approval. It's intended for High Horsepower Applications such as Pro Stock, TAD, TAFC, Pro Mod and some of the other sportsman classes. We have models of this transmission that are specifically designed for these categories. The transmission and team are 2 separate entities all together. I'm looking for a shop in the Denver area if anyone knows of somone who is willing to let me share a shop with them. I can be reached at: [email protected]
