NEW YEAR MESSAGE: HON UMEHA CHARGES CONSTITUENTS TO EMBRACE A PROGRESSIVE MINDSET OF 'ALL FOR ONE, ONE FOR ALL.'

It gladdens my heart that we have been privileged to enter the new year 2024.

This fresh start offers a clean slate of 12 chapters and 365 pages.

It is our responsibility as authors of our own book to fill it with new ideas, new hope, clearer vision and a forebearing resilience.

We must shun excuses and procrastination.
We must do away with division and unruly behaviours.

We must unite as brothers and sisters.
We must extend helping hands in ways we can.

We must embrace a progressive mindset of 'All for One, One for All.'

STATEMENT ISSUED BY RT. HON. BARR. SUNDAY CYRIACUS UMEHA-MEMBER REPRESENTING EZEAGU/UDI FEDERAL CONSTITUENCY IN THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY ON THE RESOUNDING VICTORY AT THE COURT OF APPEAL.

Umu nnem Ndi Agbaja,

The event of today calls for joy and celebration. As you might have heard, few hours ago, a three-man panel of the Court of Appeal sitting in Lagos, upheld our appeal against the decision of the National and State House of Assembly Tribunal, sitting at Enugu, which had on the 12th of September 2023 nullified the mandate you gave to me on 25th February, 2023.

In a unanimous judgment of the Panel, led by Hon. Mr. Justice S.T. Hussein JCA, their Lordships not only resolved all the four issues we submitted before it in our favour, they also dismissed the Cross Appeal filed by our opponents and awarded substantial cost against them in favor of my humble self and our great party.

As you may recall, in my statement of 12th September 2023, I had expressed my confidence in the ability of our Judiciary, at the higher level, to nulliify the most bizarre decision of the Tribunal which momentarily challenged your collective will, expressed at the ballot on 25th February 2023.

I must therefore use this auspicious occasion to commend the Judiciary for proving once again that it has the mechanism of fighting injustice and restoring truth within the context of the Rule of Law. Of truth, our judiciary remains the last refuge of the common man.

Let me also use this moment to thank, and congratulate our Legal Team who demonstrated exceptional professionalism and incredible confidence throughout this very pulsating legal contest. There's no question that they're the best anyone could ask for.

My opponent and Senior Brother- Dr. Festus Uzor tested our will and showed commendable resolve in his quest to impeach the mandate you generously donated to us. Let me also commend him for the courage of his conviction throughout this episode. As I had indicated to him on several occasions, this mandate is not of myself alone; but most importantly, those of our people whose interest must at all times, take center stage.

It is on this note that I want to extend my invitation to my leader Dr F. S. A. Uzor, to join us in our shared aspirations of improving the lot of our people. Indeed, it is the only honourable thing to do, now that the elections and the disputes arising therefrom are resolved to finality.

My Dear Constituents, let me admit that the last few months have been testing and has come with some cost in terms of our dedication and focus in delivering the promises we made during the elections. The finality of this decision has no doubt put paid to those moments of ambivalence and distraction brought by the litigations.

This is the beginning of a New Dawn in Agbaja. My promise to you is that I will not fail and/or relent in my endeavors towards improving the socioeconomic circumstances of our people through a people-oriented representation that is at the heart of our legislative agenda.

Let me at this juncture thank the National Executives of our Party led by Barr Julius Abure, the Enugu State Executives of Labour party led by Barr. Casmire Agbo, the Ezeagu and Udi Local Governments Executives of our dear party, the ward Executives of our dear party, our beloved sisters, brothers and supports from diaspora and finally to ndi Enugu, I thank you all for the unprecedented prayers and support. I remain indebted to you all.

In all, I return all the Glory to God - the Maker of the Heavens and the Earth and who gives power only to those it pleases Him.

HOUSE OF REP MEMBER RT. HON. UMEHA INAUGURATES AMANKWO NDIAGU OGHE HEALTH CENTER

A modern health facility was on Sunday 20th August, 2023 inaugurated in Amankwo Ndiagu Oghe, Ezeagu local government Area of Enugu state.
The health center which is the first in the area was declared open by the member representing Udi/Ezeagu federal constituency, Federal House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Sunday Umeha.

Addressing the people of the community' shortly after cutting the tape, Hon Umeha said that the well equipped health center was part of the constituency projects of his predecessor in the House of Representatives, Hon. Dr. Dennis Oguerinwa Amadi. He told the people that Dr. Oguerinwa had also within the same period attracted a modern primary school block to the community.

According to the lawmaker, the parliamentarian took the step having been touched by plight of people who he said have not felt presence of government since the country,'s return to democracy some 24 years ago.

On the need for regular supply of drugs and consumables to the health center, Hon. Umeha said that necessary contacts have been established to ensure that the outfit will give the people required medical attention on 24 hour basis.
He therefore enjoined leadership of Amankwo community to ensure that they make all required effort to show ownership through providing security for the center and workers attached.

On the community's requests for good roads, water, technical secondary school, and other public institutions, the lawmaker promised to liaise with his colleagues in the parliament in consultation with relevant government agencies to attract needed projects to Amankwo Oghe and other communities within his constituency of coverage.

In an address, the traditional ruler of Amankwo Oghe, Igwe C C Obueke, prayed God to bless Hon Umeha and his predecessor at the Federal House of Representatives, Hon. Dr. Dennis Amadi for remembering and providing succour to the long deprived communities within Udi and Ezeagu federal constituency.
Igwe Obueke who prayed for additional divine wisdom for good rulers in the country urging them to dedicate their services mainly to the wellbeing of the masses. The royal father spoke on the economic hardship currently facing the ordinary Nigerians and enjoined those in authority to redouble their effort and save millions of poor citizens from poverty, hunger and disease.

Earlier in the people's welcome address presented by one of the leaders, Elder Christian Ugo, the community decried their state of under-representation in government . This they said had resulted in acute neglect and marginalisation of Amankwo Oghe since Nigeria had its independence in 1960.

A Director in the Enugu State Civil Service and native of the community, Dr. Sylvester Ejike in a speech called on governments at all levels to come to the aide of Amankwo Oghe community by rehabilitating the major roads leading to the area. Dr. Ejike recalled several attempts and promises made in the past towards making roads in the community motorable. He said that
Amankwo Ndiagu Oghe has the require population size, as well as economic potentials and the political push to become an autonomous community in Enugu state but blamed on realisation of the laudable dream on inadequate representation in government; a problem that has been there since the country's independence in 1960.

The inauguration ceremony which attracted political party chieftains from across Ezeagu local government area also featured special prayer offering, exchange of gifts items and official inspection of the health facility by both government officials and political party chieftains present.

RT. HON. BARR. SUNDAY CYRIACUS UMEHA MOURNS THE PASSING OF THE HON. MR. JUSTICE CHIMA CENTUS NWEZE(1958 - 2023)

With profound shock and sorrow, I learned about the sad news of the passing of Hon. Mr.Justice Chima Centus Nweze; one of Nigeria's most celebrated and globally renowned Jurist.

His Lordship's passing, is not only a loss to Ndi Enugu, but also Nigeria and humanity at large. Milord was a true embodiment of humility, dedication, and selflessness in his pursuit of impartial justice for all. With the benefit of hindsight, I reckon that His Lordship's unfortunate demise is also personal.

As an undergraduate student, I was privileged to have been taught by the consummate academic, who later supervised my Final Year Project. Over the course of these interactions, I was privileged to have benefitted from the richness of his mind and the broadness of his jurisprudential horizon.

Testimonies from the legal community affirm his well-earned reputation for making decisions guided by knowledge, integrity, and truthfulness. He will surely be remembered as a justice of peace, equity, and love.

Joining his family, fellow legal professionals, and distinguished minds from various fields, I mourn the loss of this esteemed pride of Enugu State.

Words alone cannot express the place he holds in our hearts. His Lordship will be deeply missed, and our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time.

UGWU DI NSO ATTACK: NEMA SWINGS TO ACTION, VISITS VICTIMS.
