As one of the original estates of Montalcino and now the largest certified organic vineyard in Tuscany, Col d’Orcia is a leader in Brunello di Montalcino helping to define and promote one of Italy’s most prestigious wines. The estate’s name translates to “the hill overlooking the Orcia River,” due to its position in between the undulating hills of the Orcia River and Sant’Angelo in Colle.

Colour: Ruby red with violet hues.

Bouquet: The ample and complex bouquet highlights the delicate aromas and leads back to small ripe red fruits as cherry and black berry. All is well integrated with the oak notes and vanilla aromas from the long refinement in the wood.

Taste: Full-bodied and balanced taste. The excellent structure and the enveloping tannic texture reveal a fruity and lasting finish. The aftertaste, enhanced by a good sapidity, brings back to the aromas mentioned above.

“The certified organic Col d’Orcia 2019 Brunello di Montalcino shows ripe fruit, blackberry, earthy notes, licorice and, generally speaking, a much bigger and riper fruit profile compared to its peers. Alto Adige has become Italy’s leading white wine region. Its unique alpine-Mediterranean climate, shaped by the protective Alps, brings over 300 sunny days each year. Warm air currents from Lake Garda provide gentle heat, while cool mountain nights help preserve the grapes’ natural acidity.

Cantina Bolzano (Kellerei Bozen) is distinguished by the remarkable diversity of its vineyard sites. In total, 340 hectares of the region’s finest vineyards stretch from the warm valley floors to the cool alpine slopes at over 1,000 meters above sea level. These contrasts are beautifully reflected in the wines, which derive their distinctive character from the interplay of diverse microclimates and soils. A total of 224 cooperative members devote themselves to viticulture with great passion, upholding a philosophy where quality clearly takes precedence over quantity — a principle that has made Cantina Bolzano one of South Tyrol’s leading wineries.

👑Poggio al Vento Brunello di Montalcino Riserva DOCG 2016

Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Poggio al Vento is produced only in the best vintages and represents one of the highest expressions of pure Sangiovese to be found in Montalcino.

In the heart of the estate, half way up the hill that overlooks the Orcia River, on a ridge gently sloping towards the South you can find the Poggio al Vento vineyard. The name literally means “windy hill” and this aspect in conjunction with the very unique soil composition of the area produce the exceptional Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Poggio al Vento. The powerful yet elegant tannins delivered in the wines by this vineyard require a 4 year long aging in the traditional large oak barrels. After bottling the wine requires a further aging of 3 years before being presented to the market.

Intense ruby red. Rich bouquet, complex and elegant, made up of hints of cherry and small red ripe fruits, perfectly combined with spicy aromas and hints of oak from the long aging in wood. Well structured on the palate, rich and full, with powerful and ripe tannins supported by a pleasant freshness. Excellent, long-lasting, and elegant aftertaste in accordance with the bouquet.

Founded in 1580, Argiano is one of Montalcino’s historic estates with 57 ha of certified-organic vineyards in the southwest at 300m altitude. Cooling sea breezes and limestone-rich soils bring freshness and elegance to wines known for power in this area. Today, under CEO and winemaker Bernardino Sani, Argiano focuses on terroir-driven, balanced Brunellos that combine heritage and finesse.

In the glass, this wine presents a captivating medium-deep garnet color, while the rim reveals noble copper shades.

On the nose, this wine delivers a pronounced and noble-rich aromatic profile, with a dehydrated fruit character. The foreground is an intricate tapestry of dried red fruits, mingling with a sophisticated oak influence and a subtle hint of oaktree bark. Padelletti Winery, founded in 1571, is one of the oldest wineries in Montalcino and has remained in the same family for over 450 years. Specializing in Brunello and Rosso di Montalcino, their vineyards lie on the northern slopes of Montalcino, benefiting from ideal growing conditions. Surrounded by the Tuscan countryside, the estate offers stunning views of the Val d’Orcia.

Color: Intense ruby red with garnet reflections, brilliant.

Perfumes: Initially slightly austere, the nose opens with elements of ripe red fruit with hints of citrus reminiscent of lemon zest; the wood is well integrated, which does not dominate, but which opens up to spicy elements of licorice and tertiary undergrowth, with a mineral finish reminiscent.

Taste: Enveloping and elegant, with a very fine and valuable tannic texture. Of extreme depth and gustatory persistence, it is a wine that will have a long life in the bottle.

G.D.VAJRA - ‘Wines that do not need to talk out loud or flex their muscles, but will touch the hearts of all.’

Based in Vergne, the highest village in the commune of Barolo, GD Vajra was established by Aldo Vajra in 1972, when he was just 16. His father had planted vineyards in 1947 but called Aldo “mad” when he followed his childhood dream to become a winemaker. Taking over the family estate in 1968, he became one of the early pioneers of organic farming, and in 1971 the estate became one of the first in Piedmont to be organically certified. Today, G.D. Vajra is one of the most creative wineries in Barolo. A team of young talents, led by second-generation Giuseppe, Francesca, and Isidoro Vajra, is enthusiastically at work to craft some of the most compelling wines of the Langhe.
