各位書友們好嗎？

去年陸續收到想參與傻瓜書日的來信與私訊，感動大家一直掛念著傻瓜書日。

2024 年是沉潛及遠遊的一年，年初我們和 Limestone Books 一起在歐洲發行了《熱帶島讀：攝影書與自出版》第二版；受 BOOKED: 香港藝術書展之邀，第一次在大館分享了台灣攝影書社群的大小事；接著前往蘇黎世，在一年一度的 Plat(t)form 與好多未曾蒙面的影像創作者相遇。年末，我們回到台北與親愛的朋友相聚，和朋丁一起為 Newtraul Color 的新刊策劃「語言是一顆石頭」選書展；然後在和 Gloria Glizer 與 nos:book 討論未來的藝術書展會長什麼樣的大哉問中為去年作結。

新的一年，傻瓜書日也將打開新的一頁，創辦人之一兆慈將離開這個計畫，而君燁則會繼續和傻瓜書日一起往前走，也歡迎在這個藝術出版宇宙裡的每一粒星體，繼續向我們提出各種出乎意料的有趣邀約。

“Tropical Reading: Photobook and Self-publishing” is the assembly of an artist-led field research by Fotobook DUMMIES Day, exploring photography practitioners, artist collectives, indie publishers, art bookstores, projects, and spaces in Southeast Asia.

Our island-hopping began in 2019, taking us through Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Manila, Laguna, Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Jakarta, Yogyakarta, and Yangon. In 2020, the first edition was co-published by Fotobook DUMMIESs Day and from Taiwan.

This year, from the Netherlands brought out a second edition. The latest edition is divided into two chapters: A. Dot, Island and B. Net, Ocean, highlighting individual and collective approaches in Southeast Asia. It features four new articles showcasing book artists and publishers in Bandung, Kuala Lumpur, Phnom Penh, and Singapore.

Committed to making local and buying local, the new edition is redesigned by .chen._ and produced in Maastricht. We are delighted to share our precious finds of tropical archaeologies with more local readers across the oceans!

相信各位在傻瓜書日 #4 會場上看完「我爱我家 wo ai wo jia」選書展後對於 ABCA 都有更深一層的認識、也有大飽眼福一番，因此傻瓜書日希望可以協助 ABCA 中國藝術出版文獻庫募集台灣創作者的作品！

｜關於 ABCA｜

「ABCA (Art Book in China Archive) 中國藝術出版文獻庫」是由 art book in China 與趙夢莎自 2018 年發起的非營利計劃，該長期計劃致力於收集、歸檔傑出藝術創作者和獨立出版人的藝術出版物，梳理中國與華語地區藝術出版的發展歷程，協助併發起針對該領域的學術研究。文獻庫的收集工作主要聚焦（但不局限於）由華人藝術家或外籍創作者在華期間自主創作的藝術出版實踐。

截至 2023 年 10 月，ABCA 文獻庫針對廣義上的藝術出版物，通過捐贈、採購的方式已收錄超過 400 種文獻，其中以藝術家、獨立組織機構自主創作的書籍出版物為主——包括傳統形態的書籍、雜誌/期刊、小誌(Zine)、報紙，以及其他綜合媒介材料製作的手工書或印刷品。文獻庫將繼續擴充收錄文獻的種類範圍，力求呈現豐富多元的文獻面貌。目前正積極地對已收錄的文獻進行系統地歸檔、編目。

文獻庫現址位於北京 798 藝術區，被收錄的作品將會在 ABCA 官方網站提供檢索 www.a-b-c-a.org.cn 以及預約線下閱覽。

2023 傻瓜書日圓滿落幕了，謝謝頂著寒流前來的每個人，大家是否還覺得有點意猶未盡呢？

本屆的音樂設計我們邀請到長住台北的法國音樂人 Luc Jolivet ，以「圖書館」為題量身訂製一個長達 6 小時的書展mixtape，現在已經上線 mixcloud 啦！

「在書展上，不斷有新的邂逅和熱烈的對話，所以我希望音樂能夠給人一種新的開始、緩慢啟動的感覺。我們也一致認為，音樂應該主要是環境音樂，為人群提供空間，像是房間的一面塗層，而不是存在感強烈的音頻。但我也認為音樂應該有一些意想不到的、有趣的彎路；有時很奇怪，有時更神秘或暗淡，有時富有詩意……就像在圖書館裡與書的相遇，你來圖書館借一本書，最終對其他書感到好奇、被書籍封面、紋理和尺寸所吸引、分心。」

2023 Fotobook Dummies Day is a wrap! Thanks to everyone who came despite the cold weather. Are you still longing for more?

For this year’s music design, we invited Luc Jolivet , French musician who lives in Taipei, to redesign a 6-hour long book fair mixtape inspired by “Library”, which is now online on mixcloud!

“In a book fair, there is constant new encounters and blooming conversations, so I wanted the music to give a sense of new beginning, of slow setting in motion. We also agreed that the music should mainly be ambient and give space to the crowd, coat the room rather than bounce out every inch of the frequency spectrum. But I also thought the music should have some unexpected and playful detours, sometimes odd, sometimes more mysterious or dimmed, sometimes poetic… Exactly like you would experience in a library where you come for a book and end up being curious about other titles, distracted / attracted by book covers and textures and sizes.”

Publish: Abstract 前身為 Abstract，由「開放編輯桌」*的客座主持以及參與者所共同編輯的一份異質攝影書評。

傻瓜書日邀請來自藝術出版領域、不同角色的客座藝術家，擇定三本攝影出版物，於「開放編輯桌」現場與參與者共讀，並採集討論過程中的閒聊、零食、塗鴉、劃重點、黏便條紙等閱讀行為，作為後續的限地出版材料。

即將於 2023 傻瓜書日發生的「試刊號三現場活動」，除首次發表傻瓜書日受邀至挪威雙年展的限制製作「奶油與麵包書店」，亦將藝術家郭展源客座將主持三場次「開放編輯牆」，每場次約 20-25 分鐘，力邀大家於書展首日的午後，手持粗筆，在牆上一起展開一本攝影書。

呼應傻瓜書日衛星展（兩檔選書展「沿著邊界折疊」、「我愛我家」與一檔創作個展「1LDK」），藝術家將於三場展覽中各自選定一本攝影出版物，開啟關於「家屋」、「家屋結構」、「家庭物件邊界」的討論，並在活動後將集體討論中的塗鴉與註解，翻拍、編輯成一份傻瓜書日的現地出版物：Publish: Abstract。

Previously known as Abstract, Publish: Abstract is an alternative photobook review collectively edited by the participants and guest hosts of “Open Edit Table”.

Fotobook DUMMIES Day invites all kinds of characters from the art publishing scene to act as guest hosts, selecting three photo publications to read, alongside readers on-site at “Open Edit Table”.

Fotobook DUMMIES Day invites all kinds of characters from the art publishing scene to act as guest hosts, selecting three photo publications to read, alongside readers on-site at “Open Edit Table”. The chit-chatting, snacking, doodling, highlighting, post-it noting and various other reading habits that take place during the discussion are taken in as publishing materials, with these physical and abstract traces of the discussion gathered and compiled into the collective publications- Abstract.

For the upcoming Fotobook DUMMIES Day 2023 “Publish 3” event, we are going to present site-specific project “Bread and Butter Bookshop” and invite artist Jacky Jaan-Yuan Kuo to guest host three sessions of “Open Edit Wall”, with each session lasting approximately 20-25 minutes. On the first afternoon of the fair, we call upon participants to come armed with a marker and collectively open up a photobook on the wall. Echoing the Fotobook DUMMIES Day satellite exhibitions “Fold Along the Lines”, “wo ai wo jia” and the solo exhibition “1LDK”, artists will also select one photo publication each from the three exhibitions and open up discourse on “the home”, “the structure of a house” and “the boundaries of domestic objects”. After the event, the scribblings and annotations collected from the discussion will be rephotographed and edited into an on-site Fotobook DUMMIES Day publication: Publish: Abstract.

傻瓜書日 Fotobook Dummies Day dummy books / zines / photobooks / artist’ books / prints

傻瓜書日是一個以影像自出版為主體的出版計畫，也是影像樣書（dummy book）市集及線上書店。一本攝影的樣書（photo dummy book）是視覺實體化的實驗階段，它是一本攝影書（photobook）的前身，更是它的原型。樣書（dummy book）的複數名詞 Dummies 在英文裡同時也有「傻瓜」之意，也是命名的由來，希望匯聚一股腦做著傻瓜書（dummy Book）的傻瓜們（dummies）。

延續做為實驗的試刊號〇，從台灣創作者開始，傻瓜書日想要集結其他各式各地的創作者，作為一本不定期發行的刊物平台繼續發表。串連台北和其他城市，以影像自出版為主軸，在各地辦市集、討論、非典型讀書會。
