Just over 6 years ago Tomasz Szczepanski joined our team at The Corkscrew — fresh from Shanahans and Tapas de Lola—and what a journey it’s been. Tomasz left his career in hospitality and transitioned to retail, allowing him to spend more time with his family. Besides wine, he cherishes his family above all else. From the day he walked through our door, he became a pillar in our growth, helping transform us into one of Ireland’s top Wine & Spirit shops. It is with a mixture of pride and sadness that we announce Tomasz will be leaving us on the 5th of July to relocate to Thailand with his family.
The last 6 years have been an incredible journey for us all, it's just hard to believe that when it started Tomasz had hair! Though he may have sacrificed that in service to our business, his passion and dedication never wavered. Neither did his appetite, for someone who eats so much, we don't think he's even put on a pound since joining us. He spearheaded the launch of Wine Tuber and its numbers have climbed month after month. We hope the King Of Sabrage will be able to continue with this channel and show us even more ways to open bottles of wine.
Tomasz is more than just a colleague—he is a dear friend. Over these six years, we’ve built an unbreakable bond. We’ll miss our laughs, inside jokes, and shared challenges. We also look forward to the day he returns—perhaps for Expect the Unexpected part VI! We know we are not the only ones who will miss him, in his years with us he has also built meaningful relationships with customers, suppliers and local businesses. He has been a true asset to us. While we’ll deeply miss his talent, friendship, and unwavering support, we have no doubt he’ll excel in whatever lies ahead.
On behalf of Paul, Fiona, and the entire Corkscrew team: Tomasz, thank you for everything. Your dedication, support, loyalty and most of all your friendship, mean the world to us. As the saying goes; "A good friend is like a four-leaf clover; hard to find and lucky to have", and we have been so lucky to have you as part of our team. As you slide down the banister into this new chapter of your life may the splinters never point the wrong way.
