In business services, we supplement client operations with security and logistics consultancy and services that improve safety, efficiency and the customer experience. As one of four founding organisations behind BuildForce, Wilson James is proud to play a key role in supporting veterans transitioning to careers in logistics and the built environment.

Buildforce is the industry’s largest and most successful nationwide programme of its kind. Supporting thousands of former military personnel and their families, Buildforce provides a unique, free-of-charge wrap-around service focusing on training, employment, sport, and wellbeing.

On 16th May, the BuildForce community of veterans, spouses, and mentors hit the road for the Kendal-to-Preston 50-mile Ultra Relay, shining a light on mental health and su***de prevention in the veteran community, and raising an impressive £9,500 to continue their work. Among them was Ollie Stilgoe, who left Service less than two years ago and now enjoys a thriving career at Wilson James as Deputy Director Nuclear and Co-Chair of the WJ Veterans and Blue Light Network.

Last week, several Wilson James colleagues were recognised at the British Land Q1 EDGE (Every Day Giving Excellence) Awards.

These awards celebrate the meaningful partnerships, empathy, and strategic value our teams bring to Broadgate every day.

The first award, Bring Your Whole Self, was presented to Karim Zerroud. Karim was recognised for organising an engaging and educational Ramadan event for service partners and British Land colleagues. By inviting speakers and encouraging the sharing of lived experiences from across our workforce, he helped create greater understanding, inclusion, and support during the month.

This award was also presented to Hussein Ahmed, who was recognised for an act of compassion and integrity. Hussein noticed a colleague from another service partner in emotional distress and took thoughtful action to ensure they received support with dignity and care.

The final award, Be Smarter Together, was a joint recognition for Wilson James, JPC, and Rapport. Congratulations to Abdelaziz Bouriki, Yasur Daud, and Manuel Efenshile who, alongside partners JPC and Rapport, demonstrated exceptional teamwork during a move into Broadgate Tower. Feedback described the teams as “friendly, welcoming, helpful and knowledgeable,” highlighting how strong collaboration between service partners contributes to a seamless occupier experience.

Congratulations to Michael Sheehan for receiving a Bronze Extra Mile Award. Michael showed great initiative when he stepped up at short notice to cover for his shift supervisors, all deliveries were received on schedule. Thank you, Michael, for your proactive approach and hard work. He is pictured receiving his award from Paul Knight.

Today our WIS-H (Women in Security & Heritage) Group hosted an event across the Museums Consortium in celebration of International Women’s Day.

The event brought together colleagues from the security and heritage community to celebrate the contributions of women in our field, demonstrating the importance of connection, wellbeing, and empowerment.
