🎣Waiting for the Rise 🎣
Last week team M&B were lucky enough to explore the magical, quiet chalk stream River Frome, watching the water for the perfect mayfly hatch. We thoroughly recommend at www.chalkstreamflyfishing.co.uk, brilliant teacher and custodian of the river.
Turns out you need patience, anticipation, and pure connection with nature. What did we learn from 1st time fly fishing? The brilliance of being in nature, how amazing the hidden parts of Dorset really are and that a bottle of Mayfly Sauvignon Blanc is definitely easier to catch than a wild Dorset trout! No perfect cast required – just click and it's on it's way. 😉 It was a perfect end to the day - the only choice.

Our Favourite Sparkler Returns. As the days grow longer and Easter approaches, it's time to bring out something bright, bubbly, and effortlessly delicious. Enter our long-time M&B favourite fizz: the 2022 Cava Reserva Brut from Bodegas Sumarroca, Spain.

We've stocked this wine for years, and it continues to be a top pick—not just for the amazing value, but because it's dry, crisp, fruity, and just downright lovely to drink. International Women's Day, March 8th! 🍾Cheers to women in wine! 🍷✨
One remarkable figure leading the way is Françoise Antech, a sixth-generation winemaker at Blanquette de Limoux : Maison Antech in Limoux, Southern France. Renowned for her expertise in crafting exceptional sparkling wines, Françoise has carried forward her family's winemaking tradition with passion and innovation.

Taking over the estate in 1995, Françoise followed in the footsteps of her great-aunt, Eugénie Limouzy, one of the first women in Languedoc to manage a vineyard. Under her leadership, Maison Antech has flourished, producing elegant Crémant de Limoux wines that beautifully balance tradition with modern winemaking techniques. Her commitment to sustainability and excellence has made her a respected figure in the industry.

Here at M&B we are proud to stock three of Françoise Antech's sparkling wines. Blanquette de Limoux is one of the oldest styles of all sparkling wines, in fact it was in the abbey of Saint-Hilaire, near Limoux, that the world's first sparkling wine was created in 1544.

Sparkling into February! 💕🍾Sometimes we taste a new wine and it surprises us, this is one of those! A perfect Valentine fizz, this exciting Sparkling Shiraz hails from Southern Australia, where they have a tradition of crafting terrific sparkling red wines.

Produced by Majella Wines, one of the most awarded small Australian wineries, family owned in the famous Coonawarra wine region which is home to some of Australia’s greatest wines.

How does it taste? Ripe, soft, luxurious. Vibrant dark fruit flavours of blackcurrant, plum, damson, very soft tannins with a hint of port sweetness. Enjoy this red chilled, all year round. Perfect for a valentine’s dinner, works well with spicy foods, try it with Lebanese cuisine, a hearty beef chilli or a rib eye steak.
