📣 Temporary Wine Sales Advisor, Shrewsbury (Full-Time, Temporary)

We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic person to join our staff in the Cellars Shop over the Summer.

• Summer, starting late June through to end of August 2025.
• 40 hours a week Monday through Saturday, daytimes with the possibility of some evenings to 8pm.
• Applicants should be available for the whole period.

The candidate will be helping out in all manner of roles, including:

• Serving customers over the counter in the main shop and in A Taste of Tanners: Wine & Tapas
• Moving stock
• Filling shelves and checking off deliveries.

If you have an interest in wine or the drinks industry this would be an excellent opportunity to gain sought-after experience.

🥂 Introducing TANNERS ENGLISH SPARKLING BRUT

🍏🍯 Fresh and crisp with delicate white flower aromas. The palate is full of citrus and honey with a hint of brioche and ripe apple on the finish.

✅ For some time now we have been championing the excellent sparkling wines made on these shores. The combination of soil, know-how, grapes and let’s admit it, climate change, have all led to these wines becoming so much more than something “local” bought for their novelty factor. Naturally, like all our own-label wines, it is from an impeccable source and highlights the very best this country can produce while offering excellent value.

🍇Made from the three classic champagne varieties, namely Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier, it will certainly give some champagnes a run for their money, even if we do say so ourselves!

Producers come from far and wide to visit us here at Tanners HQ, Shrewsbury! Today we had the great pleasure to welcome Stephen Neumann from Canadian winery, Burrowing Owl.

Going through the range, we were reminded of the excellence in their British Columbian grown Chardonnay, Merlot and Syrah. We were delighted to sample a Riesling and Pinot Gris from newly acquired winery, Wild Geese.

Yes, the bird theme did not go unnoticed in what was a very enjoyable tasting and tutorial of this unfamiliar, for some, wine growing region. A real treat, thank you Stephen!

Yesterday we made a flying visit to London to taste the latest 2024 Bordeaux releases from right bank négociant, J.P.Moueix.

Hosted by Edouard Moueix in the impressive Georgian Home House Member’s Club, Portman Square, the tasting provided a great insight into the quality of Bordeaux 2024 releases, back vintages and their Napa Valley wines. The 2024 vintage is recognised as challenging, but despite the difficulties, it was pleasing to note that Châteaux Peymouton, Lafleur-Gazin and Bélair-Monange in particular showed a lot of promise. The U.S contingent of Othello, Napanook, Dominus and Ulysses were real gems and definitely worth seeking out!
