World W**e Tasting: Rhône Varietals
Thursday 5th November, 7–9pm
The Rhône Valley in France gave the world some of its best-known grapes, and they’re now grown by w**emakers around the globe. For this months international w**e tasting we’re pouring w**es made from those grapes, from the Rhône and well beyond it.
Depending on the w**es that Clive chooses you can expect to meet:
🍇 Syrah, also called Shiraz, which can taste peppery and savoury or ripe and full-bodied depending on where it’s grown
🍇 Grenache, which brings red fruit and warmth, and is often the backbone of a blend
🍇 Mourvèdre and Cinsault, which add structure and lift to blends
🍇 Viognier, Marsanne and Roussanne, the region’s white grapes, all with plenty of texture
We’ll taste how the same grapes change from place to place, and talk about why.
