The Coastpath between Porthtowan and Chapel Porth … one of those bits which is inevitably always doing something rather epic! And the 2nd image is very like one of our greetings cards - always good to try to sneak a plug in once in a while! 😃

Also enjoying the clouds, but that is one of those pleasures that wears off after a while!

An iconic Cornish fishing village which has been the backdrop for films and TV programmes is under threat as cracks have appeared in the quay that protects its harbour.

Campaigners are fighting to raise money for the "special place" and to "protect it for decades to come" after fissures appeared in the quay at Gorran Haven - which will cost six-figures to repair.

The Gorran Haven Harbour Trust (GHHT) is appealing to local people, businesses, second homeowners and tourists to help it raise the £120,000 needed to complete the repairs that will prevent the end of the stone quay falling away and leaving boats, buildings and moorings exposed to the sea.

“Failure to act would be absolutely devastating," said chairman, Geoff Fox. "The 19th-century quay will be lost forever and the impact on local homes, tourism and fishing will be irreparable.”

£40,000 of existing funds have been ringfenced for ‘The Quay to the Village’ project, with a further £23,000 already raised via a JustGiving page and several local events held to raise awareness and vital funds. But they still have a long way to go to reach the six-figures needed.

Ewan kindly scooped them up to take home for recycling, and in doing so noticed something else under the rock - a comparatively ancient looking bottle of “a rare French brandy”. I quote from the blurb on the back, which makes me suspect it was neither rare nor ancient, but it had certainly lived under its rock for many a moon.

One example of irresponsible littering, one fragment of a story and a magical night under the stars … Is that because I’m on a mission against plastic, or a bit of a day dreamer …? 🧐 🤪

A dreamy day last weekend at Praa Sands. It should be busier now that the schools have broken up, but then it is a very big beach! Loving having a little bit more time this year to enjoy where we live.

Anyhoo, time to get back to work. We will be setting up for the St Just Art & Craft Exhibition this time next week, so if you’d like to browse our products without me standing around looking awkward, that would be a great opportunity!! Monday 3rd to Friday 14 August in Cape Cornwall School, St Just. The wonderful community of volunteers down there has raised more than £1 million for Cancer Research and they are now working on their 2nd million.

Now that’s got to be worth a look, and probably a cup of tea and slice of cake to go with it! 🩵

So … I was getting all ‘arty’ down at Praa Sands at the end of a fabulous beach day, trying to keep the crowd of people on the beach out of shot … when i realised it was a wedding! Hope they don’t mind me posting this since it’s all so distant, but what a fabulously beautiful thing to do! Wishing them every happiness.

Turned an appointment in Plymouth into a little road trip. First time on the Torpoint Ferry, which was fun, although it did make us realise we have been completely institutionalised by the King Harry!! Always good to experience different cultures 😃🤪
