Summer is a coming in! ☀️

Although we have no outside seating, we have more than enough delicious things to entice you to take a break from the sun! (Plus the door is open and the sun shines in so you’re basically outside anyway)

We have a brand new cheese plate, with addition of St Helena a semi-soft cows milk cheese made from the same milk that produces Baron Bigod, the champion of cheese!

Plus, a real nice selection of beers including ‘Flux Phase 4’ a collaboration from two of the Mount Rushmore of UK hop gods - Verdant & Track! It’s a 5.2% New Zealand Hop based juicy & citrusy IPA.

Also, we have 3 absolutely delicious including the seasonal ‘Wild Garlic, Potato, Cheddar & Mint’ which is going down a storm!

Loads of great summery wines available too!

A Penedès Weekender!

This bank holiday we are showcasing wines from two winemakers that we were lucky enough to visit at the end of April!

‘Roig Boig - La Salada’ - Toni Carbo works on over 16 hectares of wines in the sprawling Penedès countryside. In 2012 after years of his family selling the grapes they grew to Cava houses, he set up La Salada - his own project, producing wines with the grapes he grows. ‘Roig Boig’ is a blend of 10 different indigenous grapes made in the Pet-Nat style. Perfect for the warm weather ahead!

‘Ancestral - Vinestar’ - Ari & Riki from Vinestar are two young winemakers up high in the Alt Penedès overlooking the picturesque Monserrat mountain range. ‘Ancestral’ is a blend of Xarel-lo & Macabeu made in the Ancestral method. It’s a refined & fresh bubbles with beautiful fresh apple crispness.

Both these wines will be available BTG over the weekend!

Hungarian Weekend at House! 🇭🇺🇭🇺🇭🇺

On the next stop on our voyage around under appreciated European wine countries we’ve landed in Hungary! A historical wine country packed with young, talented vignerons rebuilding the wine scene that was ripped apart by Phylloxera and communist regime.

From Tokaj in the East to Lake Balaton in the west, Hungary’s rolling hills are packed with volcanic rich soils which produce wines of excellent depth, tension and quality.

We will be showing off wines from 5 different winemakers (Bencze Birtok, Szóló, SZieGL, Péter Nagyváradi & Vaskapu) working with more familiar grapes such as Furmint & Kekfrankos, to more lesser known native grapes such as Hàrslevelü and Kadarka. All imported by our friend and native Hungarian

Alongside the wines we will be making and serving Lángos, a traditional Hungarian street food which you may have tried on the streets of Budapest! Vegetarian and Meat options available.

As always with these events there’s no bookings and no tickets, just a chance to try some wines and snacks from an amazing wine country that you may not have had before.

We’re so excited to have received an allocation of the latest release!

Based in Saumur, Loire, Kaya Tsutsui is continuing the legacy of Xavier Caillard. Working mostly with Cabernet Franc & Chenin Blanc over 5ha of vines, situated on the south-easterly facing slopes that surround the chateau on the property, Les Jardins cuvees are all treated to long & considered élevage, with the current release having seen 7 years of ageing before release.

In early February Ailsa had the opportunity to visit the winery with and since coming back has not been able to stop talking about it. These wines really leave their mark and it was beautiful to see the care & dedication Kaya & the team have in continuing the legacy of Caillard while still forging their own path.

These special cuvées are some of the most exciting and rare wines we have on our list and as such we have very few bottles so if you want one you have to get in quick! All wines are drinking beautifully now but we can see the potential for further ageing.

The perfect combination to unlock the door to a Sunny Bank Holiday weekend.

A real big restock from . Packed with some sun kissed, coastal grown wines perfect to cool you down from a warm evening stroll.

A highlight from the list is: ‘Grizzling - Domaine Durmmann’ .A sparkling Riesling from Alsace, sherbety, lemony and just what you want to drink on a day like this.

This weeks are a selection of some classics that everyone always returns too. Chicken Curry, Steak Mince & IPA and Chickpea & Spinach Jalfrezi. Something from anyone and everyone!

A new week here at House and with the sun shining we have some suitable offerings to quench your thirst! 🌞

We have 2 beers pouring in celebration of their forthcoming ‘From The Land’ festival . We will be there pouring a selection of wines from our favourite British winemakers this weekend alongside a selection of the UK’s best farmhouse breweries pouring their beers!

‘Tractor Beam’ is their latest Hazy IPA release, packed full of Nectaron, Citra and Nelson Sauvin. It’s the perfect sunny evening drink!

Plus, a selection of seasonal arrivals from our friends at . They flew off the shelves last time we had them as they sing with fresh summer fruits and moreish acidity, leaving you coming back for more!

Oh, and we now have Schofferhofer Lemon & a 0% version of our favourite lager!
We’re open from 5 tonight and then all weekend!

Mid April updates! 🌼

The middle of the month usually brings a lot of changes and this month is no different.

Firstly we have a brand new cheese plate. We have 3 new spring focused additions in Bibury, Montgomery’s Cheddar & Ogleshield to go alongside the ever-present Baron Bigod. Plus a zippy fresh new Elderflower & Gooseberry preserve, to cut through the richness.

Speaking of zippy, now pouring we have a ‘Limonata’ sour. Packed with lemons from Comares, Spain. it’s just what you want to be drinking on a warm spring evening.

Plus, loads more new beers pouring, with 2 gluten free lines too! A sunny opening by the glass list full of coastal freshness and a big restock of Torres crisps and olives. We’re ready for the week ahead!

Sunny Easter Sunday! ☀️

We’re rounding out a lovely Bank Holiday with a selection of treats that may not be as good as a Tony’s Easter Egg, but hopefully close.

Firstly, we love a Czech Amber Lager around here and the local lager legends or triple L’s
over at have made ‘Kleines’ a beer akin to our beloved Jantarova. Tasting delicious, pouring now.

Then we have 3 sunny day wine specials on by the glass for the bank hols. ‘148PM’ a vibrant fun sparkling red from the Southern Rhône. ‘Stalisma’, a House favourite when the sun comes out, refreshing & aromatic from sunny Thessaloniki. Finally, ‘La Capitulation Ne Pais Pas’, an outstanding low abv, high flavour chilled Cinsault from the Languedoc.

Plus! If you’re peckish we’ve fittingly held some Lamb, Red Wine & Mint pies back and as an Easter Sunday special they are £3 all day!

HWC PRESENTS: CENTRAL EUROPEAN SHOWCASE

For our April tasting we’ll be taking a trip round Central Europe, tasting wines from typical wine-making countries like Germany and Austria, alongside some more unsung wine-making regions in Slovakia, Czechia & Hungary!

The countries of Central Europe have long, centuries old traditions of vine growing and winemaking but due to decades of upheaval and changing borders some of these countries are only just regaining the recognition they deserve for making some of the most beautiful wines I’ve tasted. Ancient terroirs, ideal climates & a true love for their country and the wines they produce, winemakers across Central Europe are making something really special.

Join us on Thursday 26th April, 7pm at House for a journey around Central Europe and discover what makes this part of the world so unique - 5 wines & snacks included.
