You may think Oliver Zeter is just another Pfalz producer focusing on Riesling, but Oliver loves to play with international grape varieties as well in his vineyards, according to the best soil and climate available. His ethos is to embrace the freedom to stay open and interested.
So far, that has proved quite a profitable philosophy -as after only 18 years- he's one of the rising stars of the Pfalz, along with his striking bear label.

His Grauburgunder (AKA Pinot Gris) is a pure and expressive dry white wine. The aromas and flavours of ripe yellow fruits and lemon, along with a smooth texture, make it a fine white wine to enjoy all day.

Prost! 🍾

Moving to the Rhein banks, we meet Louis Guntrum and their ever so unusual (but delicious) Dornfelder.

Dornfelder is probably the third biggest red grape in Germany, following Pinot Noir and Portugieser, calling the Pfalz and Rheinhessen its home.
Fairly new to the wine world, it was initially bred in 1955 as a blending partner to paler reds. Nowadays, it's often seen as a varietal, producing fragrant, full-bodied wines.

The Dornfelder from Louis Guntrum is medium bodied and brimming with red fruits (cherries, strawberry and raspberry). There is a clearly defined sweetness on the palate too, which only adds further to the sheer drinkability. Enjoy it slightly chilled with chips, cheese or as a companion to your main course of pasta or meat.

Have you ever tried Dornfelder? 🍷

Only hand-picked, perfectly ripe, healthy grapes + brief maceration to extract a light pink colour + fermentation in stainless steel + no malolactic + light filtration before bottling + no fining.

Result? A fantastic delicate and refreshingly dry rose, with bright fruit flavours and a clean, zippy finish.
Perfect with all manner of dishes, from light salads to ham and chips. If you love Provence roses, you should definitely give this one a try.
Bonus point? It's on offer throughout all of July πŸ˜‰

El Picoteo Blanco is a blend of Verdejo and Sauvignon Blanc from the Almansa region in Spain, just North of Valencia.

The wine is the brainchild of Bodegas Piqueras, which you all probably know as the people behind El Abuelo (our favourite Spanish grandfather), and it has bags of citrus fruits, with the hint of tropical here and there. With a great, persistent finish and a variety of foods to go with it, you'll be spoilt for choice.
A wine truly made for sharing 🍷πŸ‡ͺπŸ‡Έ

Villa Wolf in the village of Wachenheim (Pfalz) focuses on making extraordinary wines in a sustainable and minimalist way.
Ernst Loosen (yes, the man behind Dr Loosen wines) took over the winery in 1996 and decided to grow varieties typical to the Pfalz (Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc, Gewurztraminer and Dornfelder), along with his expertise on Riesling.

The result? A range of varietal wines that are great value, high quality and consistency vintage after vintage.

Today, we shine a light on their Gewurztraminer: fruity, but with the right acidity to balance out the rich mouthfeel that comes with the grape variety. Great partner to spicy dishes, but light enough to be enjoyed on its own.

To kick off a celebration, you usually pop a cork, don't you? 🍾

What if we told you, you can have your sparkling to celebrate AND don't feel the effects of alcohol after the celebrations?
Dr Loosen has created a range of de-alcoholised wines (sparkling and still) for drinkers to enjoy, without feeling the need to miss out.
Dr Lo de-alcoholised Sparkling Riesling has all the notes and character of the alcoholic version, minus the ABV! There's no compromise when it comes to crafting incredible wines: it has just the right amount of fruitiness and the typical acidity of Mosel helps it finish fresh and clean. And that's what makes it a great glass of low-alcohol wine.

We'll raise a glass of Dr Loosen de-alcoholised sparkling Riesling tomorrow to start the beginning of . And you?

Something to keep us cool in this hot July 🫠🍷

July's Wine of the Month features Portugal, Spain and France as the country of choice: a zesty Portuguese white blend from the Douro (yes, the Port region), a Spanish dry white full of tropical fruits and a fruity Cabernet Sauvignon from the South of France for the red wine drinkers.

We know you'll find a new favourite this month πŸ˜‰
