❤️Well… the day has finally arrived — my LAST DAY at Great Limber Village Stores! 🥳🥂❤️

What started as a little hobby to get me out of the house after the Covid lockdown somehow turned into a full-blown career I never actually applied for! 😂

I thought, “I’ll give this a go”… and a few years later, here I am, finally escaping! 😂

I’ve been a shopkeeper, agony aunt, weather forecaster, newsreader, therapist, stock controller, tea maker, gossip correspondent and occasionally even a detective when someone couldn’t remember where they’d left something! 😂

And of course, I couldn’t have done it without my wonderful girls — Cheryl, Wendy & Sue. ❤️

THE DREAM TEAM!
Four women, one shop and enough talking, laughing and coffee drinking to keep the village entertained for years! 😂

We’ve put the world to rights more times than I can remember — although, strangely, we never actually managed to fix it! 😂

There have been quiet days, manic days, funny days, frustrating days and plenty of those moments where you think, “You couldn’t make this up!” 😂

I’ve met some absolutely amazing people along the way. Customers became friends, friends became like family, and some people came in so often I’m pretty sure they were actually part of the furniture! 😂

A huge, heartfelt THANK YOU to every single person who has supported me throughout this journey. The kindness, encouragement and support I’ve received has been absolutely incredible. Some of you have gone above and beyond, and I will never forget it. ❤️

This little shop has given me so much more than I ever expected. It gave me something to do during a very strange time, but most importantly, it gave me people — friendships, laughter, memories and some absolutely brilliant stories.❤️

And now… I’m RETIRING! 😂

Well… sort of!

I’m looking forward to spending lots of precious time with my lovely Mummy, chilling out, enjoying myself, taking things at my own pace and discovering what it’s like to have a day where nobody asks me:

“Are you open today?” 😂

OR WHAT TIME YOU OPEN😴😂😂

I know I’m going to miss it more than I probably realise. I’ll miss the familiar faces, the chats, the laughs, the characters, the village gossip and all those little moments that made every day different.

But most of all, I’ll miss the people. ❤️

So as I close the door for the final time, I’m leaving with a very full heart, a head full of memories.xx

Thank you, Great Limber, for an unforgettable chapter of my life.

It’s been emotional.
It’s been exhausting.
It’s been hilarious.
It’s occasionally been bloody hard work! 😂

But above all…

IT’S BEEN BLOODY BRILLIANT! ❤️

Here’s to my lovely Mummy, lots of chilling, new adventures, plenty of laughter — and a life where I’m finally allowed to say:

The secret is finally out! 💚

I’m delighted to share that Brocklesby Estate will be assisted by the lovely Katie Penny in the Village Stores.

It’s wonderful to see our village stores continuing to be part of village life and bringing people together. I wish Katie and Brocklesby Estate every happiness and success in this exciting new chapter on the 21st September.

To feel so appreciated and loved means more than we can put into words. We will treasure the memories, the friendships and all the support we’ve received from our wonderful village community.

NEW BEGINNINGS❤️

Well, after a few years behind the counter at the Village Stores, the time has finally come for me to go on to new beginnings.
FRIDAY 18th SEPTEMBER will be my last day x

I have to say, leaving brings with it a real mixture of emotions. I’m looking forward to the freedom that retirement / new adventures will bring, but I’m also incredibly sad to be saying goodbye to a place that has been such a big part of my life.

The Village Stores has never really felt like just a shop. It has been a meeting place, a source of local news, a place for a quick chat, a catch-up, and occasionally a rather complicated discussion about the weather!

Over the years, I have been lucky enough to meet so many wonderful people. Customers have become friends, familiar faces have become part of my daily routine, and there are countless little moments that I will remember and smile about for years to come.

There have been busy mornings, quiet afternoons, unexpected deliveries, missing newspapers, last-minute essentials and, of course, those customers who came in for one thing and somehow managed to leave with half the shop!

But above all, I will remember the kindness, laughter, stories and friendships that have made my time here so special.

It is the people I will miss the most — the friendly faces, the familiar voices and those little conversations that could brighten even the busiest of days. You have all played a part in my journey, and for that I am truly grateful.

So, while I’m looking forward to the next chapter and perhaps finally having time to enjoy a slower pace of life, I know there will be moments when I miss the hustle and bustle of the shop — and probably wonder what on earth I’m going to do without knowing everyone’s shopping habits!

Thank you to every single person who has supported the Village Stores, and especially to all those who have made my few years here so enjoyable and memorable.

I leave with a full heart, a head full of wonderful memories, and hopefully a few good stories that I’m allowed to repeat!

Thank you for being part of my journey. It has been an absolute pleasure — and a privilege — to serve our wonderful village.

Here’s to new adventures, and New Beginnings…

A Date for Your Diaries!

We’ll be at The New Inn Great Limber, on Sunday 11th October 2026, from 12pm–4pm, sharing a collection of photographs, documents and memories from Great Limber & Brocklesby.

We’d really like you to bring yours too! Dig out those photographs and documents, come along and share your memories, stories and questions. You never know who you might recognise or which old friends and neighbours you might meet along the way.

We’ll also have something rather special on display: part of the RAF Lancaster bomber that crashed locally during the Second World War.

Come for a look, stay for a chat and a drink in the magnificent The New Inn Great Limber and help us add a few more pieces to the story of Great Limber & Brocklesby.
