Foursquare Exceptional Cask Selection XXVII Equidem

A cracking showcase of the skill and flair at Foursquare Rum Distillery, the Equidem Exceptional Cask Selection Mark XXVII marks the 27th gem in their much-loved series.

This one’s a bit special, the first of their rums to be matured in ex-Black Muscat casks, and crafted from both the copper double retort pot still and twin column stills, it blends a five-year-old ex-Bourbon cask rum with a rich fourteen-year-old ex-Bourbon cask dram.

Bottled at a bold 61% abv, it’s fair to say this isn’t shy on flavour.

This little cracker has had a makeover for its inclusion in the new-look Arran core range. Distilled on the island of Arran and matured for seven years in first fill bourbon barrels, this single malt is then transferred to 'Quarter Casks' that hold just 125 litres, allowing more interaction between the wood and the liquid.

After two further years, this expression is bottled at a strength of 56.2% abv.

BALLOT: Ardnamurchan AD/Mezcal Cask Release

Following on from their exciting Madeira cask release comes the newest expression from Ardnamurchan - the Ardnamurchan Mezcal Cask 2025 Release.

20 bourbon barrels full of 30ppm peated liquid were laid down in 2017, before the liquid was transferred for the remaining 20 months of its maturation to ex-Mezcal casks.

The resulting 4,968 bottles sit at 55% ABV and are packed with earthy, grassy, maritime goodness.
