Glasgow Whisky - Alex McTurk I have created this page to share some of my knowledge on single malt scotch whisky

I have been collecting whisky since 2015. This is a tiny part of the collection. Carrying out inventory of The Macallan I have tonight.

I have a total of 221 bottles of whisky accross various different brands. But enjoyed pulling some of these out of storage tonight for a wee 😍

Great hobby, have thoroughly enjoyed tasting many of these over the years… and it is one thing I miss whist not drinking alcohol. But one day someone will get the benefit of this.

The prediction is that Whisky will hit new heights this year. Some of these bottles cost less than £100 and are now worth in excess of £1500 each.

My Isle of Raasay whisky inventory now. 3 inaugural 2020 releases (reasonably sought after). 2 x R01 and 1 x R02.1, various nia six individual bottles, a makars malt (very rare), 2023 distillery release and presentation pack for cask owners - we have a couple of barrels of whisky stored at the distillery (around 400 litres) 🥃.

Anything I have missed in there 👀

❤️ I absoloutely love the class and style of the packaging, history and team at Raasay and nothing beats a visit to Skye and Raasay.

The Macallan - Harmony collection - These 2 bottles form what is now a 4 bottle collection. The last of the 2 bottles have only just been released.

1. Harmony - Rich Cacao
2. Harmony - Fine Cacao
3. Harmony - Smooth Arabica
4. Harmony - Intense Arabica

⬆️ These bottles originally started sub £100, but as always never confirm it’s a collection until the subsequent bottles are release.

✅ From an investors point of view, that’s good. Good because people drink then rather than store them therefore depleting the availability and pushing the price up. I bought both of these bottles for around £300 they are now around £700-1000 (if you can lay your hands on them).

🙏🏻 Looking to add both the Arabica releases to my collection - if anyone has some to sell then please let me know.

♻️ The bottles are fairly typical of the recent MacAllan bottlings, however the packaging and labels are unusually made of cacao husk. I am assuming the arabica releases will be made of coffee?

🥃 If I can be of any assistance to anyone, please drop me a message. Always happy to chat whisky, buy or sell bottles.

Glenfiddich - Before I post the modern I thought some time should be made to appreciate the older bottling in my collection.

These bottles just feel rustic, and whilst some of the modern packaging for whisky can be pretty slick. Nothing compares to the old ceramic decanters and green bottles!

🥃 First up - Glenfiddich 18 in the highly sought after “Spode” decanter (black) with only 331 bottles ever made, this is 1 of them. Bottles in the late 1980 at 18 years old this whisky was most likely filled into their original sherry-oloroso casks around 1960s! Now how’s that for a cross between whisky and art 😍

🥃 Next - the 14 year old rich oak, also discontinued this 14 year old was first filled into the barrels around 1995/96 and bottled on 2010(ish).

🥃 Glenfiddich Pure Malt ancient reserve bottled in the 1980s, this bottle (I believe) is an 8 year old. But I love the old style green bottling.

🥃 Glenfiddich 18 year old - ancient reserve. Again turn of the century whisky this was most likely first distilled around 1985!

I have a lot of Glenfiddich and this will feature a lot on the page, MacAllan, Glenfiddich, Glenallachie and Rassay are my main collection.

If I can help anyone out please do send a message.

Please follow the page 🥃

Isle of Raasay Distillery - These are my all time favourites and probably some of my lower cost whisky due to the young age of the distillery.

🥃 The story behind the isle of and the team overseeing the whole machine that is is something that must be witnessed first hand. Which is handy, because it can be done with easy and a short ferry ⛴ journey from Skye - they even have rooms to rent at the distillery.

☺️ I will spend some more time over the coming weeks giving more in depth information on Rassay however, this is a fantastic drinker 🥃, and based on where the prices of the bottles have gone in the last 5 years… it’s definitely an investment.

🍃 In a nutshell, Rassay is a sustainable, local product providing jobs on the island, using local materials with a fantastic interactive team who are always happy to help.

🥃 Within my collection I have some - inaugural release, distillery special release, lightly peated, some NIA 6 elements and… my treasured Makars Malt (it took a lot of sourcing).

🤝 If I can be of assistance to anyone who needs info on the island, the distillery, how to visit or on the whisky in general please do get in touch.

I will post more on the individual bottles over the coming weeks… but the bottles 😍 check those out! Actual moulds of fossils found in the island… the attention to detail 👌🏻

I have created this page to showcase some of my whisky collection and provide information to anyone thinking of buying or investing in single malt scotch whisky.

🤔 People buy quality whisky for various reasons, mainly to drink. However, I started collecting whisky some time ago when the mathematics of whisky investment was explained to me quite simply -

💰 If you had £10 savings in the bank in 1985 (and didn’t add to it), how much would you have in the bank today?

🥃 In 1985 you would have paid £10 for a quality scotch whisky and today how much would this be worth today?

So whether your drinking the whisky, or starting / adding to a collection. Follow my page and have an input into the whisky that I post.

Let’s share some knowledge together and learn more about one of Scotland great products!

The Macallan Quest Collection - this is an ideal starter whisky for any collector, and being represents one of the worlds leading and most respected whisky brands.

My first purchase in this collection was the terra (in 2017), then quest, then lumina and finally the enigma this year (2022). These were / are travel exclusives and could only be purchased at airport duty free. However, most now have to be sourced online second hand due to their popularity.

For those who buy to drink the whisky, the details are below 👇🏼👇🏼👇🏼

🥃 Macallan Quest: Blended from whiskies from ex-bourbon casks, hogsheads and sherry seasoned American and European oak casks. It was bottled at 40% ABV.

🥃 Macallan Lumina is made from whisky matured in European and American oak, pre-filled with Sherry, and hogsheads, bottled at 41.3% ABV.

🥃 Macallan Terra: Only first fill Sherry casks were used here, especially “seasoned” for Macallan with Sherry that comes from wood suppliers Tevasa and Vasyma in Jerez de la Frontera. 43.8% ABV.

🥃 Macallan Enigma presents whisky that only was matured in seasoned first-fill Sherry butts of the Tevasa Cooperage, bottled at 44.9% ABV.

🤝 If anyone needs any advice on this then please drop me a message here.
