We are aware of reports on social media of an alleged theft of Easter Eggs which were donated by us.
When we became aware of the missing Easter Eggs, we offered to replace the original donation along with similar offers of support from the community for the children impacted by this.
After a thorough investigation, we can conclude that the eggs were not stolen by a thief, there had simply been a misunderstanding.
We were asked for a donation of Easter Eggs for the children of Invergarven last month, these were securely set aside for collection, this was communicated internally, in addition with the person who made the request.
In February we were asked for a raffle donation from another organisation. We donated a case of chocolates which were collected.
During our investigation, we discovered that a different person from the same organisation approached a member of our team to pick up the donation which had previously been collected.
We conclude that there has simply been a misunderstanding and a break in communication.
We take away learnings from our investigation and are in the process of carrying out more formal checks on the collection of donations rather than using trust and good faith.
As a busy community store we are always happy to support local charities and organisations and will continue to do so.
Thank you for your support and understanding.
