☀️!!! Wow This Wine Is Perfect For This Week!!! ☀️

This week we have Assistant Managers Wine Of The Week!!!

This Lion And The Lily Bordeaux Rose is such a lovely wine for this weather.
It is an easy drinking, fruity wine which is light on the palate with ripe notes of strawberry, raspberry and Peach.

What else’s can we say about this wine?

There’s more to Bordeaux than claret. If you like refreshing, fruity and aromatic rosé, it pays to try something different here. This is made purely from Merlot grapes with a unique approach by the biggest rosé producer in the region. It really sets the bar for Bordeaux pink. It’s light and fruity, with notes of red fruits, a long, aromatic finish and a fresh minerality. Try this with a chicken Caesar salad at your next picnic.

This week the Manager/Assistant Managers Wine Of The Week with a little help from the wonderful Solomon
is the glorious Matsu Recio Tempranillo

This will be on the tasting counter this week so do come along and give it a try.

Why we like it…

This is fantastic example of an old vine Tempranillo, it is rich with baked cherry and liquorice on the nose which is complimented by earthy black fruits,chocolate and Vanilla. Simply perfect for Easter with Roast Lamb!!

More about this wine
Matsu translates from Japanese as ‘to wait’. It perfectly captures the patient philosophy of Bodegas Matsu on their century-old Toro vineyards. The bodega’s mature vines help to create wines with diverse and complex flavour profiles. ‘El Recio’ is made from Tempranillo vines between 90 and 100 years old. So expect heady notes of black fruit, chocolate and vanilla, a full body and a fruity, lingering finish. Enjoy it with juicy lamb shanks.

When the Manager is away….
Shh don’t tell him that the Assistant Manager has chosen wine of the week!!!

This is a brilliant,elegant Chardonnay from Terrazas de Los Andes in Mendoza, Argentina.
I fell in love with this Chardonnay on a visit. to this vineyard in Mendoza.

When you take a sip of this imagine sitting between rows and rows of vines at golden hour with the peaks of the Andes slowly transitioning through shades of purple and dark blue as the sun sets and dusk forms. Simply bliss!

So why else do I like it?
It’s medium bodied, with concentrated notes of peach, papaya and citrus with subtle toasty notes of hazelnut and vanilla.
Super refreshing and perfect on a warm sunny day.

Parcel Series Chilean Red Blend (2017)

“This wine is rich and well aged. It’s an expressive Cabernet Sauvignon complimented by a touch of Carmenere. This is smooth tannins with a lasting finish - you will not want to miss this”

This is an exceptional blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and a splash of Carmenère. Its grapes are grown in the Millahue area, where the coastal mountain climate and alluvial soils create the perfect conditions for fine, elegant red The winery uses a unique barrel-ageing process. French oak is sourced and constructed on-site to allow for greater control over the barrel toasting, enhancing the wine’s depth and complexity. This vintage reveals rich dark fruit notes with hints of spice and a smoky undertone. It pairs wonderfully with grilled meats, balancing the robust flavours of the wine with the savouriness of the meat.

About this wine
James Healy and Ivan Sutherland are Sauvignon Blanc experts with over 50 years of winemaking experience between them. After spending a decade at Cloudy Bay, they began making this Sauvignon from Sutherland’s vineyards, which were planted in the ‘70s and ‘80s. This vine age makes for a unique complexity in their wine. As a result, it’s long been the darling of critical praise. It has plush notes of passionfruit and citrus, and a saline acidity. Try it with fresh seafood.
