✨ A truly special night at Grand Cru ✨

We had the immense privilege of welcoming Jean-Frédéric Hugel to Grand Cru for an extraordinary evening showcasing the very best of Famille Hugel.

As a key figure in one of Alsace’s most historic and influential wine families — with over four centuries of winemaking behind them — Jean-Frédéric brought not only world-class wines, but a wealth of knowledge, experience and insight that made this tasting unforgettable.

With charm, precision and generosity, he guided us through seven benchmark wines from the Hugel portfolio — each one a clear expression of Alsatian terroir, tradition and technical mastery:

About Castello Vicchiomaggio:
Dating back to the 12th century, Castello Vicchiomaggio is a national monument with a rich history. Perched atop a hill overlooking the Val di Greve, the castle has been a strategic stronghold and a Renaissance manor house. Notably, Leonardo da Vinci is believed to have stayed here during the creation of the Mona Lisa.

About John Matta:
John Matta, a London-born oenologist, has been at the helm of Castello Vicchiomaggio since 1982. Under his guidance, the estate has garnered international acclaim, with John being named Italian Winemaker of the Year four times by the IWSC.
