Ultra-luxury is no longer about making a statement. It’s about creating a feeling. 🪞

It lives in the details: a carefully chosen material, the warmth of a space, the way light is used, or a thoughtful gesture. Every design decision contributes to an experience that feels effortless, authentic, and memorable.

In this new insight, Jean-Pierre Trevisan, founder of Elegya Hospitality Consulting and former Director of Operations at Ritz Paris and Hôtel de Crillon, A Rosewood Hotel as well as former General Manager of Mandarin Oriental Lutetia, Paris shares his perspective on the evolving world of luxury hospitality and the values shaping its future.

👁️ | Material Innovations

Materials are entering a new era: they are combined, transformed and repurposed as craftsmanship meets technology. Across the French furniture industry, manufacturers are challenging norms by exploring unexpected material pairings and giving new value to overlooked resources.

These projects reflect a new way of designing, where materials become a medium for experimentation, emotion and sustainability :

✨ Through its collaborations with Bina Baitel on the SUBLIME ottomans and HELIA lamps, and with P O O L on the PERSPICIO collection, Cevino Glass (Glass Variations) pushes the creative potential of curved glass through innovative UV bonding techniques, opening up new architectural and decorative possibilities.

✨ The « Espèces d’espaces » screen from Ateliers Lison de Caunes combines straw marquetry with metalwork, in an unprecedented dialogue between a centuries-old craft and industrial materials.

✨ Airborne transforms its iconic AA chair using a stained-glass-inspired technique made from upcycled beach buoys, turning light itself into part of the design experience.

Whether through technical innovation, material hybridisation or circular thinking, these projects reveal how French manufacturers continue to expand the possibilities of design by pushing the boundaries of matter itself.
