Dhaka Welcomes Pohela Boishakh with Colors, Culture, and Celebration
Pohela Boishakh is being celebrated with vibrant arrangements, joy, and a festive atmosphere, as the surroundings echoed with the message of a new beginning.
The capital city, Dhaka, came alive with excitement as thousands of people gathered to welcome the Bengali New Year. One of the main highlights of the celebration was the iconic procession from the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Dhaka, widely known as the Boishakhi Shobhajatra. The colorful parade featured traditional motifs, giant masks, symbolic figures, and artistic expressions that reflect the rich heritage and cultural diversity of Bangladesh. People from all walks of life participated, turning the streets into a vibrant display of unity and celebration.
At the historic Ramna Batamul, the day began early in the morning with mesmerizing performances by Chhayanaut. The peaceful environment under the banyan tree resonated with Rabindra Sangeet and traditional songs, creating a deep emotional connection with Bengali roots and traditions.
Across Dhaka, various fairs, cultural programs, and food festivals added to the festive spirit. Areas like Hatirjheel, Dhaka University campus, and other parts of the city were filled with people dressed in traditional attire—white and red saris, panjabis, and floral ornaments—embracing the essence of the New Year.
The celebration of Pohela Boishakh once again showcased the unity, heritage, and cultural pride of the Bengali people, making it not just a festival, but a powerful expression of identity and togetherness.
