Pizza wines are the unsung heroes of the week. They are cheap, cheerful, and full of character, ready to go whether you are grabbing a couple of slices on the way home, ordering in after a long day, or firing up the oven and unveiling your favourite combinations of toppings at home. At PWS we have a soft spot for a good pizza wine. It is midweek, easy drinking, no nonsense bottles that never ask for much and always deliver.

And just like pizza itself, there is a wine for every mood. Red sauce, white sauce, meat lovers, veg loaded, classic Margherita or wild-card creations; no pizza stone will be left unturned. The joy of pizza wine is that it does not need rules. It simply needs good company and a glass that keeps getting refilled.

Vino for Pizza is our curated lineup of Italian wines chosen with one simple idea in mind. Great wine makes pizza nights even better. These are bottles that fit any occasion. Whether you are trying to impress a new date, sharing dinner with the family, or pouring a glass for yourself after a long day, we have you covered.

Unfortunately, there will not be any pizza to eat at the event, but the wines will do exactly what they should do. They will inspire you to head home, turn on the oven, and make a night of it. Because at the end of the day, who does not like pizza?

This Saturday! 12pm-2pm. South by South is a celebration of two New World wine regions that rarely share the same stage. South Africa and South America each have their own histories, their own traditions, and their own unmistakable identities. They don’t overlap often, and they don’t need to. This event brings them together not to compare or compete, but simply to enjoy what makes each of them so compelling.

South Africa offers a remarkable sense of place in every glass. Its wines carry the influence of dramatic coastlines, ancient soils, and a winemaking culture that blends heritage with innovation. From textured Chenin Blanc to structured Syrah and the country’s signature Pinotage, South African wines have a confidence and clarity that feel both grounded and adventurous.

South America brings a different kind of energy. Argentina’s high-altitude vineyards deliver Malbec with depth and purity, while Chile showcases coastal whites to powerful reds shaped by the Andes. These wines are expressive, generous, and full of character, shaped by landscapes that are as bold as the flavours themselves.

South by South is your chance to experience these two southern hemispheres side by side. Not to draw lines between them, but to appreciate the individuality of each. It’s an invitation to explore, to taste, and to discover how two distant New World regions can offer such distinct yet equally captivating expressions of wine.

Riesling is a grape that refuses to sit still. It thrives in cool climates, carries naturally high acidity, and delivers an aromatic intensity that feels almost electric in the glass. Unlike other varieties that settle into a predictable style, Riesling stretches across an entire spectrum from bone dry and mineral to gently off dry to richly sweet. That range is what makes it so endlessly compelling.

Germany remains the spiritual home of Riesling, and its wines show just how expressive the grape can be. For newcomers, the Prädikat system can be a challenge to decode. Terms like Kabinett, Spätlese, and Auslese describe the ripeness of the grapes at harvest rather than the sweetness of the finished wine, which means a single word on the label can signal anything from delicate freshness to opulent richness. Once you understand the language, the reward is discovering wines that balance fruit, acidity, and texture with remarkable precision.

On the other side of the world, Australian Riesling brings its own distinctive energy. Our homegrown examples produce wines that are unapologetically dry, driven by lime, minerality, and a steely backbone. They seem to have recurring moments of rediscovery, when drinkers are reminded just how vibrant, characterful, and age worthy these wines can be.

Electric Riesling is a celebration of this full spectrum. It invites you to explore how one grape can express place, climate, and winemaking philosophy with such clarity. From Old World elegance to New World intensity, from crisp to opulent, this tasting is about experiencing Riesling in all its voltage.

This Saturday, 12–2pm.

Pinot Noir Worldwide is a look at one of the most demanding and rewarding grapes out there. Thin-skinned and fussy, Pinot needs cooler climates and careful farming, but when it’s done right, the results are pretty special.

Burgundy is still the benchmark, but great Pinot is being made well beyond France. From the mountains of Chile to the alpine vineyards of Alto Adige, and the quietly brilliant bottles coming out of the Jura, site and climate make all the difference.

In the US, Oregon and cooler pockets of California continue to lead the way for refined, balanced New World styles. Closer to home, Yarra Valley and Macedon Ranges show just how good Australian Pinot can be, bright, detailed and built for the table.

And Martinborough brings its own punchy, structured take from across the Tasman.

All of it under one roof.

This Saturday 21st of Feb! 12-2pm

Treasures of Tassie highlight the remarkable evolution of this cool‑climate island, where precision, purity, and expressive winemaking define the modern landscape. Long known for world‑class sparkling and finely structured Pinot Noir, Tasmania is now showing just how far its potential reaches. Emerging plantings of Gamay and increasingly textural, fuller‑bodied Riesling demonstrate a region expanding confidently beyond its core strengths. Throw in some of Australia’s best examples of cool-climate chardonnay and you have a region brimming with finesse.

Across the island, distinct sub‑regions contribute their own character from the maritime freshness of the Tamar Valley and Coal River to the coastal elegance of Freycinet, the cool, rugged beauty of the Cradle Coast, the river‑shaped contours of the Derwent Valley, and the deep‑southern poise of the Huon Valley. Together, they form a mosaic of sites that continue to push Tasmanian wine into exciting new territory

Treasures of Tasmania brings these expressions into clear focus, offering a curated snapshot of the styles, varieties and regional nuances that make Tasmania one of the most compelling cool‑climate wine regions in Australia today.

Featured producers: Clarence House, Ghost Rock, Havilah, Woodlawn, Two Tonne Tasmania, Home Hill & Sinapius.

VINS DE BOURGOGNE BLANC: COTE D’OR
Saturday 14th February 12 pm - 2pm
After the success of last year’s Mâconnais tasting, we now turn our attention to the newest vintage from Burgundy’s historic heartland: the Côte d’Or. This limestone‑rich escarpment south of Dijon is home to Burgundy’s most revered white‑wine villages, producing some of the world’s finest examples of Chardonnay.

Our upcoming tasting spotlights this diversity through a curated lineup of current‑release Bourgogne Blancs, supported by a handful of village and Premier Cru bottlings. It’s a rare chance to explore how the Côte d’Or expresses itself at every level from its most accessible wines to those that hint at the depth and ageing potential that have made this region a global benchmark for Chardonnay.

First tasting of the year this Saturday the 7th of Feb!

Often regarded as lesser reds in Piedmont’s celebrated northwest, Barbera and Dolcetto are among Italy’s most misunderstood varieties. Though frequently overshadowed by Nebbiolo, they offer distinctive character and exceptional value. Barbera, with its soft tannins, bright acidity and red‑fruited profile, delivers a vibrant, versatile style suited to almost any occasion. Dolcetto, the “little sweet one” in name, only shows darker blue‑black fruits, spices, and a firmer structure, offering a riper, more approachable expression than its famous sibling Nebbiolo.

Despite their reputation as everyday table wines, both grapes can produce wines of real finesse and quality in the right hands. Exploring Piedmont: Barbera and Dolcetto showcase producers who give these historic varieties the same care and attention afforded to Piedmont’s most iconic wines, including a rare Barbera made from pre‑phylloxera vines.

If you’re new to Piedmont or simply looking to understand how these styles differ, this tasting offers a clear, engaging introduction to two of the region’s most characterful and rewarding grapes.
