🦘💔 This is an all too familiar sight in my region. If you visit the country 🌳 here are a few tips to help you help wildlife.

Keep a good distance from the car infront & behind. If you are being tailgated. When safe let that car go by.

If a kangaroo enters your field of vision apply brakes with measure & stay straight. (Know your mirrors / you don’t want to cause a crash behind). & avoid swerving.

What is the kangaroo doing? It’s possibly crossing the road or has been startled. If it’s started & with other kangaroos its actions will be in relation to the others. In these situations kangaroos are prone to zig zagging & changing their mind!!

If you see one, EXPECT to see another & another & another.

Summary. Your best friend is time & the amount of time you have to avoid a collision is in relation to the speed you are traveling.

This kangaroo was struck by a vehicle around lunchtime today, an unusual time. The driver reported the collision & in doing so saved this kangaroo from incomprehensible suffering. Upon responding to the call I searched for the kangaroo. Despite having horrendous injuries, she had dragged her crippled body some distance from the road. I have attended many similar situations & the moment I find the animal lying, waiting, living, is an indescribable mix of emotions. It’s at this time that I must asses the animal & then, thanks to a network of the most remarkable people, take action that will save the animal or ease its suffering in the most compassionate way. This rescue took a sadder turn when i discovered this kangaroo had a Joey. I searched the area and found her Joey deceased near by. Her Joey was deceased at least 12 hours prior… this mum likely died tending her deceased baby.

Glossies came a close runner up as there was a few posts for them with lots of likes but the birb with the most likes was… 🥁 Bush Stone Curlew 🎉 This bird is the master of freeze frame & awkwardness 🤨 (like me) 😂 & will create an interesting challenge ✍🏼 thanks to everyone whom made selection!
