Introducing Renea, our new Business Development Manager for Queensland!

Nicknames: Nay — it’s stuck with friends and family over the years.

Current favourite tune: Not an “on repeat” gal, but currently deep in an 80s mix phase. All-time go-to? Always P!NK.

Sport of choice: NRL through and through.

Your team: The Broncos… and yes, I think they owe me a chat about this season!

Interests/hobbies: I’m a proud mum of two adult kids and a big family girl at heart. I love staying active, travelling the world, and discovering new cultures — especially through food. I recently ticked Vietnam off the list and ate ALL the street food.

All-time favourite dish + wine pairing: Asian-style dishes with aged Riesling — tough to beat!

What wine from the portfolio would you open tonight and why?
Still working my way through the range, but so far the Small Wonder Auburn Pinot Noir is my red of choice. I’m also vibing with the Small Wonder Landscape Riesling — coming from a Clare Valley background, it’s been refreshing (literally) to explore the elegance of Tasmanian Riesling. I think there’s huge potential for these styles in Queensland.

Most exciting region in the portfolio: Tasmania, hands down. It’s a region I haven’t had much exposure to until now, so it’s all new and exciting. For imports, Germany and Austria are calling — like discovering a shiny new toy.

We’re so excited to have Renea on board — bringing deep industry knowledge, a love of wine, and a fresh energy to Queensland.

We are proud to share that our 2023 Auburn Pinot Noir has been recognised in Young Gun of Wine's latest Deep Dive into Tasmanian Pinot Noir, selected as one of wine writer Clementine Bird’s top six wines out of over 60 bottles.

Clementine Bird described it as:

“Spice, black and red fruit – blueberry, mulberry, raspberry, boysenberry, cranberry – plus spice like cinnamon and fresh garden herbs. It’s got a homely, woodsy note as well, with a subtle undercurrent of black truffle. It makes me feel like I’m walking through a woodland. Soft red fruits coat the mouth on the finish. Impressive concentration.”

This Deep Dive was a blind tasting by eight respected voices in wine, including winemakers, writers, and sommeliers, each selecting six favourites. We’re incredibly proud to be in such reputable company.

It’s International Chardonnay Day, and we’re celebrating with the 2023 Auburn Chardonnay from Small Wonder.

Hailing from Northern Tasmania’s Tamar Valley, this wine is a study in cool-climate precision. It’s layered, crystalline, and quietly expressive.

Recently awarded 93 points by Dave Brookes from @ winecompanion, he writes…
“Pale straw with an inviting nose of white peach, grapefruit and lemon along with hints of spiced oatmeal, vanilla pod, wildflowers, almond paste, sea spray and crushed stone. There's impressive concentration of flavour here with no loss of cut and carry, everything nicely in tune, leaning just towards savoury on the finish. It makes for really great drinking.”

Certified organic and harvested by hand, the Auburn Chardonnay captures both the clarity of site and the elegance of the 2023 vintage.

Four generations. 9.5 hectares. A legacy rooted in the vineyards once farmed for the monks of Cîteaux Abbey.

Led by Gilles Remoriquet since 1979, .remoriquet is a family-run estate crafting Pinot Noir of precision and depth from Premier Cru holdings in Nuits-Saint-Georges and Vosne-Romanée.

Certified HEV (High Environmental Value) and Terra Vitis, the domaine blends sustainability with tradition, producing wines of finesse, complexity, and unmistakable Burgundian character.

Beautifully breezy. Shimmers with tang and energy…fruity not sweet, bracing but not fat. Wash-day freshness with attractive gooseberry/herbal zest and a pinch of ginger. Genuine flair here…

In time for World Sauvignon Blanc Day, the 2024 Small Wonder Sauvignon Blanc arrives with cool climate clarity and aromatic lift. Picked in mid-April, in a season that preserved bright natural acidity and strong varietal character, this vintage captures the variety at its most expressive, gently grounded by time on lees.

Most think Malbec needs altitude. But sometimes, it just needs the sea.

This World Malbec Day, we’re turning our attention to the coast with the 2022 Wayfinder Malbec from Margaret River.

Grown just 7km from the Indian Ocean on ancient ironstone soils, this is Malbec reimagined: wild dark fruit, plum skin, and graphite meet a flicker of coastal salinity. There’s weight here, but no excess- just tension, freshness, and that quiet intensity Wayfinder has made its signature.

The fruit was hand-harvested, gently saignéed to build concentration, and fermented wild in stainless steel. After 16 days on skins, the free-run juice was gravity-drained to seasoned French oak (2–4 years old), where it matured for ten months- preserving its structure, polish, and purity.

This month, WA producer marked one year since opening their Cellar Door & Restaurant in Dunsborough. This thoughtfully crafted space has given the Wayfinder brand a much-needed home in the South West: a place to pour their wines and share their incredible story.

To mark the occasion, they hosted a birthday sundowner, creating a wonderful moment to connect with the local community and reflect on the journey so far.

Here's to another year of inspiration, innovation, and growth! And if you’re in Dunsborough anytime soon, be sure to stop by, you’ll be warmly welcomed.

Johannes (second photo) and Christoph Schneider (third) of .weilerschlipf were named “Newcomers of the Year” in 2022 by the Falstaff Wine Guide—recognition that reflects the quiet rise of one of Germany’s most exciting Pinot Noir producers.

Their 2022 Von Kalkstein Spätburgunder is a beautifully crafted, family-grown expression of Spätburgunder that channels Burgundian elegance with German precision. Expect black cherries, wild berries, and that signature mineral lift from limestone soils, shown in the fourth photo.

“A well-rounded, harmonious Pinot Noir. Fine acidity, fresh tannin, nice juiciness and lovely fruit.” 93 Points, Ulrich Sautter, Falstaff Wine Guide (Previous Vintage)

Since 1991, H.O. Spanier has been a quiet revolutionary in southern Wonnegau, crafting profoundly terroir-driven wines from some of Germany’s most limestone-rich soils.

A current standout from Battenfeld-Spanier is the 2023 Eisquell Riesling- a wine that captures the purity and quiet power of its calcareous origins.

'Brimming with chalk and citrus peel character plus a touch of Mirabelle plums, this has excellent depth on the medium-bodied palate for an entry-level dry riesling. Plenty of flinty and earthy complexity in the long finish. From organically grown grapes.' | Stuart Pigott, James Suckling

A collaboration of season, inspiration, food and wine, and perhaps a hint of poetry.

Join winemaker Alex Byrne and our very own Daniel Scher alongside head chef of Pinotta, Philippa Sibley, for ODE TO AUTUMN, a much anticipated Melbourne Food & Wine Festival event.

“Autumn is my favourite season,” says head chef Philippa Sibley, who will bring the forest floor to the Pinotta dining room. Think artichokes and chestnuts. Game, pigeon and yabbies. Figs and blackberries, foraged and turned into treats both savoury and sweet. Slow down and enjoy the last of the long afternoons. All paired with the delectable wines from sensational Small Story Merchant's producer, Byrne Wines.

Ticket price ($185) includes five courses from Phillipa Sibley and matched wines from winemaker Alex Byrne. Follow the link in bio to buy tickets.

Looking for new international wines to add to your list? We’ve got just the pair for you...

2019 Villa Raiano Fiano di Avellino ‘Alimata’ | Campania, IT (13%)

A whiff of honeycomb and glazed lemon - but pared back. Beautiful creamy charm, tangy mineral finish with a saline lick underneath the pulpy fruit. Love the balance between ripeness and vivacity here.

2022 Domaine De Courbissac Souzadou | Minervois, FR (14%)
(80% Grenache, 20% Carignan )

This wine has lovely feel– fresh and vibrant, but beautifully pitched with gentle weight, seamless fruit and a scratching of youthful tannin– pure, Grenache pleasure.

New year, new wines from Tasmanian producer, . Introducing the Auburn Series. Here is what Paul Edwards from The West Australian had to say about them...

2023 Auburn Chardonnay | 92/100

Bright and effortless, this Chardonnay dances between crisp lemon zest, spiced apple, and honeydew, elevated by a whisper of patisserie spices... its refreshing lightness makes it a charming alternative to the boldness of WA Chardonnays.

2023 Auburn Pinot Noir | 92/100

If “pinosity” is a word, this wine defines it. Aromas of cherry, raspberry, and a hint of petrichor invite you in, while silky texture and vibrant cool-climate freshness make it the perfect lighter red for summer sipping.

2023 Block 3 Pinot Noir | 94/100

Complex and captivating, the Block 3 offers a darker, more textured take on Pinot Noir. Wild strawberry, rhubarb, and a savoury herbaceous edge meet delicate cedar undertones. Pure, vibrant, and ever-evolving, it’s a bottle worthy of its single-block prestige.
