Yesterday the Gawler community lost one of the finest, Don Stubbs.
Every day Don would walk with his beloved Missy to the store to buy his daily paper. Always up for a chat and to find out what was going on in the neighbourhood.
As the years went by Don’s health saw his purchase his legendary “Harley” mobility scooter.
When Don’s beloved Missy passed he would still be at the store for his daily paper but having wheels meant he could sometimes test the boundaries and venture further past the store, usually to visit his best mate Aub or just to admire the beautiful view up Top Gawler Road.
There are so many more stories to tell but will keep those in my memories of you Don.
To Margaret, Sharon and Joe and family we all send our love and condolences to you all.

Don, it’s been an honour to have had you in our lives. You will be missed by all at the Gawler Store and by everyone in the community.

And that’s a wrap………….. 2026 Gawler General Store Footy Tipping Competition.

Congratulations to David McNulty, Rosey Robertson and Wilfred Wyllie all picking the correct points margin. 🙌🙌

Andrew Lewtas, HASSA and Scoot Nicolle all picked Brisbane to win so there was no change to the end result. Congratulations to these 3 as they will share the prize money. 🙌🙌

A massive thank you to everyone who entered the tipping competition and I thank you for supporting this comp.

I would also like to thank my staff for their support and now Thursday afternoons will be a little quieter😜 although Melbourne Cup sweeps will be the next challenge 😂

Remember the tipping party is on Saturday 10th of October. I look forward to catching up with everyone at the party. Please contact the store or FB page for any info regarding the party.

Thanks for all the birthday love and messages. Turned a negative into a positive with the power interrupting the day. Was grateful to be able to still have the shop open. Hope everyone enjoyed the cake 🎂

POWER OUTAGE TAKE 2

Due to the planned power outage being cancelled a few weeks ago it has now been rescheduled for this Thursday the 24th of September which happens to be the boss lady’s birthday 😁

The shop WILL BE OPEN as we have been supplied a generator so we can trade.

However we will not be able to cook after 8am or cook any chickens on that day.
We apologise for this but sandwiches and hot pies will still be available.

Call into the shop for a piece of birthday cake and who knows what might come out of the fridge in the afternoon. 😜🍻
